@travellingbee: Thank you! I'm hoping that my hormones are just trying to settle down as well.

@RacheBon: This is comforting. Thank you so much. My doc just set up an ultrasound for Monday morning and they want to do a Day 21 progesterone, so hopefully I'll get some answers.

@BlueWolverine: I hardly ever post but wanted to respond because I had something similar happen last year and was really freaked out at the time, but it ended up not being a big deal.

In my case, I had a miscarriage in February, followed by a normal period in March. In April, right when I thought I'd be ovulating (though I wasn't tracking closely) I had sudden bright red bleeding with large-ish clots. It was heavier than my period, but only went on for a few hours. I thought it had to do with the miscarriage, but my OB thought that was unlikely since a prior ultrasound had shown no retained tissue and I had had a normal period already. I went to the OB two days later (of course I was on a work trip at the time!) and an ultrasound didn't show anything abnormal, and I was about to ovulate. I got my period right on time that cycle, and got pregnant with my now 7-week old daughter the following cycle.

I still have no idea what that bleeding was about. My husband is a doctor (though not an OB) and said it might have been a piece of endometrial tissue that hadn't been shed during my prior period. Both he and my OB chalked it up to "weird things our bodies do" but I was really freaked out, since I had never had mid-cycle bleeding at all before. Hopefully it's similarly no big deal for you!

No never heard of passing clots mid cycle! But the last few months after my miscarriage I have spotted a lot between AF and ovulation. I think it's just my wacky hormones trying to settle down. :goodluck:

Does anyone have experience with midcycle bleeding? We're TTC for a 2nd LO. I'm only on day 12 (with O expected around day 17) and yesterday I started bleeding and passed a kind of big clot. This morning, I passed another smaller one. The bleeding seems to be slowing down. I called my doc's office and they want me to take a pregnancy test, which I will do during lunch. I'm just finding this so odd and it's freaking me out a little. I've never had anything like this happen before.
