No I wouldn't care at all. For a little girl our middle name will likely be Elizabeth, Ann, or Mary. All extremely popular middle names but they are family names and that's why we would use them.

Do whatever you like!

I like my middle name (Sarah) even though it's very common. I share the name with my amazing grandmother, though neither of us uses it (she goes by her middle name instead).

I like middle names because it gives parents the opportunity to go hog wild and pick the crazy/obscure/hippie names, like Rhubarb or Ebenezer. :P

We will be using family middle names, our girl name is my Great Grandma's maiden name (Rhea pronounced Ray) so it's a common middle name but an uncommon spelling. Our boy's middle name will be Michael after my DH's brother who passed away when they were kids.

Second round will be more family names, most likely mine or my DH's middle name depending on gender.

My middle name is Ann which must have been super popular in the 70s/80s. It was my grandmother's middle name which makes it special to me. I don't think having a common middle name is as big of a deal as a common first name.

Hm. our LO's middle name will be after my husband's maternal grandmother, a woman very dear to both of us. So even if it was a popular name I would not care. But it's a very very old school name so it's not popular. :)

No, I didn't care at all about popularity of middle name. DD's isn't popular, but it wouldn't have mattered if it was (its my middle name too!)

@autumnlove: I love the idea of having a Chinese middle name!! Is it spelled out like their Chinese name or something different?

I have so many friends with the middle name Marie! It must have been the "it" default middle name for girls in the 70s and 80s!
Our LO has a Chinese middle name that will be rarely used!

No bc typically you call a person by their first name. I only know maybe a handful of people my whole life that goes by their middle name instead. Or people go by a nickname so I say go for it!

We don't know many people with kids. Recently I've been talking to the few parents I do know and keep hearing the same name over and over again for a girl's middle name. Guess what? It's the name we want to use. Since its the middle name, should it really matter? Does popularity of middle name matter as much as first names??

I loved having a different middle name that no one else had. It wasn't a weird name, just not Lynn like most people guessed when I wrote an L out for it.

Do you care how popular the middle name you give your LO is?
