AFAIK, dairy under a year isn't terrible, I have been giving my son yogurt from cows milk since he was 8 months old. It's all about information, and when people don't have information, they get defensive. I've learned to pick my battles, that's for sure.</p> <p>I'd probably not have my husband "lay down the law" either. If it were my MIL, I'd inform her of our choices myself. I don't believe in the "I deal with my parents, you deal with yours" way of thinking. Make her own up to it.<br /> And tell her (not just have DH tell, but you also) that you are introducing foods in a certain way and if she wants to take care of your LO at all, she needs to respect your rules.</p> <p>I hope your LO is ok.</p> <p>Side note: A friend babysat for my LO last night (AWESOME!) but gave him some gas drops and he hasn't pooped all day! My mom has fed my LO things she shouldn't..... strawberry jello before one, but when I told her that strawberries were a no she was apologetic and didn't make that mistake again. I felt like it was my fault because I didn't give her the list of no's so I wasn't hard on her, and from then on I made sure to tell her what my LO couldn't eat, and she always made sure to follow it. My mom made stupid choices/decisions with us when we were kids that she definitely regrets because of the lack of information back then. Your MIL might think that based on what she knew back when she had LO's that it's ok (they survived, right?!) but that doesn't mean it's ok.
