Then they decided not to come to Christmas Eve because my SO's Mom was invited too. She had to work and didn't end up coming. My parents missed LO's first Xmas even though they live locally. My mom had hand surgery 10 days before Xmas and it wasn't a major surgery, but decided she couldn't come because she would be unable to feed herself and do her hair. However, she was well enough to go grocery shopping and see her friends. My ILs were here as well so I was hoping for a big holiday celebration.</p> <p>But as @ArtBee says so wisely, being upset isn't going to get me anywhere. Our kids are the only kids missing from family pictures &amp; most of the evening we got dirty looks &amp; remarks from other family members as to why we didn't bring them.</p> <p>Self-adsorbed and selfish. She then goes on to say that her new boyfriend may want to take her on a trip and she will do that instead of going to LOs bday. My MIL has always been self absorbed but I'm shocked she will miss LOs bday for such a frivolous reason. She doesn't get to see him a lot so I'm hurt she would so casually dismiss attending the party. What the heck??? </p>
