I think it's totally human nature to feel those momentary pangs of jealousy!

Update: He's crawling FORWARD and chasing our chihuahua, pedro. Pedro is not very happy about this milestone.

@littlek: It's ok. I learned to walk before I learned to crawl. It's ok to skip some milestones. It doesn't mean you won't worry but it does mean you don't have to. :)

@littlek: I totally agree with PP's, all babies are different. J is less than a month older than my best friend's daughter and their LO rolled over soooo early, J didn't roll over until he was 4 1/2 mo old. Now he's WAY more animated and active than her. At first I was comparing the two of them but I just can't do it anymore. We actually don't talk about their milestones all that often b/c we recognized the "oh...J hasn't done that..." tone.

I hear yah! My best friends baby is 4 month younger than my lo and she's already doing things my lo can't! I'm not necessarily jealous, more amazed at their lo than anything. My baby girl is 6 months and she's got some low muscle tone issues. She's in physical therapy and she's progressing so I can' really as for more of her or compare her to others :) She just started sitting up unassisted this past week and I'm proud of her! My friends baby is only 2 months and she can already stand up with mommy and daddy's help....is that normal? lol I even did it with her, it's crazy how strong she is! Our lo isn't supporting her weight yet. With our lo we still have to support her head when we pick her up and our friends baby you don't at all. Babies definitely are all different!

Babies are so different and some will hit certain milestones early and others later. My LO was late to sit up and crawl and walk compared to her friends. One of her friends was walking at 9 months and mine was not even pulling up at 9 months. She didn't start walking until 13 months. But my LO is an early talker...at 15 months she knows about 30 words, can recognize her books (says "eye" for her eye book) and recognizes 5 letters of the alphabet. It's fun to see how different each baby is and in the end they all catch up :)

@pastemoo: I honestly don't think my LO is that interested in crawling. He'll rock, crawl backwards in a circle and then he's just happy to start pulling up on whatever is near him.

@bree72: same, I don't feel jealously but it does kind of stress me out.

This morning in Carter's the clerk asked if E was starting to walk and I said, "oh no, she's barely crawling" and the lady was like, "my daughter is walking at 10 months" which is great! But I'd love for E to start crawling soon!

@pastemoo: my LO didn't start crawling until around 10 months. I was worried at first, especially since my friends LO who is 2 weeks younger than mine, was already pulling up and cruising. :/

I haven't had jealousy, but people stress me out asking about milestones. My son had teeth early and crawled/ stood up/ sat early. So it's like everyone assumes he's going to continue that way and keep going "he's not walking yet?!, he's not saying real words yet?!" He just turned 10 months old, people! Most 10 month olds and not walking and saying "dog." I think society makes it worse than it is. Eventually, they'll all get there.

I get milestone jealousy all the time. My baby is 9 months with no crawling at all.
It makes me nervous.

He also has no teeth and I was starting to stress about it. Then my cousin (a doctor) said "He is definitely teething. I guarantee you that he will have teeth before he is a teenager." And then I laughed and realized that I have to let go a little. I'm still working on it and still stress about milestones but trying to not worry so much.

I second what KATIEW92081 said! I have a mommy friend and her LO is a month older than mine and they have hit different milestones first at different times. It's exciting to look forward to!

Your LO will do something before hers does it. Whether it's speaking in sentences, reading, naming colors, or anything else. All babies are different and hit different things at different times. :)

My best friend has a LO that is near my LOs age and even though I shouldn't I tend to compare our 2 LOs. Example: Her LO is walking across the floor using a toy to hold him up. My LO is obsessed with pulling up and can only crawl backwards in a circle. I know my LO was a premature and he is doing great for his actual age much less adjusted age. But I do feel a hint of jealousy when she calls and tells me these things. I really wish I didn't care but I do...
