Thanks everyone for all the information!

Yeah he has been getting into the "normal" crawl position for a couple of months now and every time I think he will "normal" crawl... he eventually flops on his tummy and military crawls away. He is pretty fast at doing it, he does it on our carpet and tile floors. He started military crawling at about 5 months.

LO#1 never military crawled, he started crawling at 8 months and then walked at about 17 months.

Yup my LO exclusively army crawled from around 8mo? I can't remember exact time! But was pulling up to stand soon after and cruising from 10mo. Proper crawled at 12mo and started walking at 16 months, now at 22mo practically running everywhere. Definitely took his time learning to walk but once he tried it, was pretty quick from there...

My son army crawled for a long time and I thought he was going to skip crawling completely, but he didn't - he crawled for probably a month or so before he moved to walking and kept crawling as his "fast" movement choice for a while longer until he got sturdy on his feet.

My daughter did more army crawling for awhile. I realized it depended on the surface. It's pretty efficient to slide across our slick wood floors, but not so much on her daycare's carpet! She primarily does the standard crawl now.

My LO started army crawling at 6.5 months and then started pulling up to stand around 8 months. Once she realized it was easier to get to a standing position from her hands and knees she started regular crawling a couple weeks later.

my first daughter started army crawling around 10 months. I'm pretty sure she never crawled normally, and was a late walker at 17 months.

My second daughter never army crawled, but was crawling 'normally' at 5 months.

My DD started army crawling at 7 months and never did the traditional crawl. She walked at 13.5 months but was cruising the furniture for a couple months before that. Now at 2 y/o she loves to crawl around on all fours and pretend she's s little baby. It makes me laugh because she never crawled like that when she was a baby!

DS picked up army crawling at 6 months and didn't go into a full crawl until 10 months. He's 12 months now and despite pulling himself up and cruising for months he still isn't walking on his own, so crawling is still the primary transportation.

I'm curious, too. L is almost 10 months and just does a military crawl, although sometimes she gets up on her knees but doesn't go anywhere. I have a feeling that she will just go on to walking and skip traditional crawling, but who knows.

Did anyone’s LO military crawl?

Did they ever get to traditional / normal crawl (knees and arms) or did the go straight to walking?

It looked like for a while that Lo was going to figure out “normal” crawling but still just did his military crawl.

Yesterday and today he got to standing position on his own so maybe he will walk soon?

He’s a little over 10 months old.

Mostly just curious what other babies did.
