M is MPI and on nutramigen. She is 10 months and at our GI appointment today we got the go-ahead to try yogurt at 11 months and whole milk 3 weeks later. Fingers crossed!

The GI doc did say that it was no big deal for her to stay on the regular nutramigen formula for a few months after 1 if she doesn't tolerate cows milk. I'm not sure if our insurance would continue to cover it.

@Crumbs: Yes the E028. He will take any of the flavors. We mostly ordered the grape for him. We got one flavor of each as a trial from his gastro. Then we just ordered directly from Neocate and took it off of our taxes (we have a number of medical expenses).

My daughter developed her dairy allergy at the age of 8 months (somewhere around there) and it was discovered when she had rice cereal (skim milk powder is the second listed ingredient). Anyway, since then, she hasn't had any form of milk. She hates soy, almond, and rice milk and refuses it. She eats soy yogurt, though.

Anyway, I, too, was concerned about her not drinking milk and of calcium intake but her ped and allergist both assured me that as long as she's eating a wide variety of foods, she will be getting enough calcium. My daughter is now 2 years old and is super healthy!

@brownie: Eo28. I've read another poster mentioning that, but I never knew it was Neocate. I'm going to definitely inquire about it. What flavors does your LO prefer?

@Crumbs: My son preferred Splash (they are like juice box size) to the formula. We stuck with Neocate but I believe alumentum and Nestle also have alternatives.

@brownie: I've never heard of Splash or the toddler formula. I'll have to look into it. However, the hospital gave us Neocate Spoon (porridge) but DD hates the stuff.

We transitioned from Neocate formula to Neocate Splash at 1 year old. It was also hypoallergenic. For full disclosure, I also nursed so he wasn't exclusively formula fed. He started refusing the formula personally. They also have a toddler formula but I felt it had a lot more sugar in it.

I'm also concerned since DD is on Neocate and the age on it says 0-12 months.

To those that have LOs with a milk allergy or intolerance that was/is on formula:

- Did you continue to give your LO the same formula after 12 months?
- Did you insurance company continue to provide the same formula?
- Did you start to wean them off of formula? If so, how much on average was your LO consuming and at what age.

I'm concerned about my LO's calcium intake and would love to hear how all you other moms cope.

Thank you!
