I would offer the same side two times in a row. That helped the most !! Good luck !

We're only at 3.5wks but are working through this issue right now - it came up right during his first growth spurt, when he increased his feed frequency to almost hourly and my supply sort of overcompensated for about a week. I think block feeding (sometimes even more than one session per breast) and really closely watching his cues has helped. We've been told there's a 3mo growth spurt, too, so wonder if maybe that's what's bringing it up and changing your milk? Is he eating more frequently? Or more vigorously? Like others said, if he seems comfortable and the green poops resolve, it's not likely to be something serious. Our ped (also a LC) said a green poop here and there happens.

I had a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. I saw a LC. She said to pick one side and use that, no matter how many times he ate, for 2 hours, then switch. Generally this meant that I nursed him 2-3 times in a row on one side. If you must pump during this time, do it only enough to relieve pressure, and no more. Takes about 2-3 days to re-balance.

@ElbieKay: My LO had bright green sludgy poops for almost 2 months before I figured out her dairy intolerance (so I stopped eating all dairy). BUT my ped told me over and over that they are only worried about black or red (bloody) stool. My LC confirmed that green is fine.

So you are probably fine. In our case, she didm started having blood in the stool, but if you don't notice anything like that--it's probably okay.

I'm not sure if it could be related to your diet, but since you already block feed, could you maybe pump for a few minutes before feeding him to see if that resolves the green poop issue? Or even just hand expressing a little?

My LO would randomly have a day or two of green poop and then be fine, so it could also just be a random one-off!

Has anyone dealt with a fore/hind milk imbalance? All of a sudden I am seeing bright green poop. My 3.5mo is on an exclusive breast milk diet. His behavior hasn't changed so I don't think he is sick. He seems to completely drain my breast, and we only feed on one side per session, so I don't think I have an oversupply problem. I have noticed that my pumped milk looks thinner than it used to, too. Can this be related to my diet somehow?
