I've never had milk in the tubes, or had to replace them. They did get water in them somehow (I think DH decided to wash them), but were mostly dried after running on empty for a while.

I used a Medela Freestyle for a year and never had an issue with milk in the tubes. I used the same tubes the entire time.

Used my Medela for 2 kids for about 28 months. I only got milk in the tubes if my bottles overflowed. I had spare tubes I got on amazon for cheap but I only replaced them once because they got moldy from pumping with wet parts. Long story short, not a common problem at all.

I pumped 5x a day and never had milk end up in the tubing, just a bit of condensation and so I would run the pump not connected to everything to dry out the tubes. The valves aren't as flimsy as they seem and are really cheap to replace.

I used only the Medela Pump for 16 months and never had to replace tubing or clean it. I think it would be pretty hard to get milk in them. Condensation yes....but that never bothered me.

I've pumped for almost 2 years using the Medela PISA and I've never gotten milk in the tubes. They do get condensation, but I just let it run for 10-15 minutes after I pump (often longer because I get distracted) and it clears itself out.

I'm pretty sure this comment just guaranteed that I will get milk in the tubing this afternoon.

I had the Medela Pump in Style and never had milk get into the tubes. I pumped a little before I went back to work at 12 weeks, but then used it 3x a day at work until he weaned at 10 1/2 months; so maybe I didn't use it enough to cause the problem.

I used oa Medela Pump in style for over a year and if there were milk in the tubes, I guess it didn't bother me or I didn't notice? Maybe I'm gross. Spare tubing is super cheap to buy if you had to.

For those of you who have used Medela pumps full time. How often does milk actually get into the tubing? Do you just keep spare tubing handy? Or do you just attempt to clean them?
In my past two pregnancies I have avoided the medela pump and chosen closed system pumps that have a actual barrier preventing milk from being able to get into the tubing but now my employer insurance is only offering medela pumps.
I have used a medela pump at the hospital and thought it was great other than the valves seeming to be very delicate. But I am not sure if a personal pump would be similar
