Thank you all for your responses! Our son has most of the symptoms your lo's had. I am weaning out dairy from my diet (I did read your post @Mrs. Jacks. Thanks!).

He had a great day, and was very content today. I prey that the formula switch is our answer. He seems to be doing fine with the breast milk as well. I will be calling the ped tomorrow to see if they will test him for the allergy.

Thank you all!

@runsyellowlites: I know what you mean about getting excited about the color of our lo's poo! Our son had a huge poop earlier today (after being constipated for a while). It seems like it is going back to how it should be which made my husband and I breathe a sigh of relief (the one a couple of days ago was not typical). I've never spoke about poop as much as I do now with a child!

LO came out reacting to dairy. By 7 days old, he screamed for over 12 hours a day only stopping when he wasn't being fed every couple of hours at 3 am and daddy just put him in bed to cry. He was definitely showing signs of silent reflux but never spit up. At 10 days old we DS the barium test and he didn't reflux. After that his poops were never breastfed yellow but where either dark brown and solid (he was constipated). And green frothy Mucousy poop that smelled a sweet acidic thing. We pulled milk out of the diet but didn't see results until I dumped soy too.

LO developed a milk allergy sometime after she was 2 months old. Between 2 months and 7 months, she stopped taking the bottle and would only breastfeed from my boob. When she was 7 months old, I was feeding her just a regular rice cereal and by the second bite, her entire face blew up into a swollen red puffy mess. She began trying to scratch her eyes and she started crying. Her hands had cereal on them and they, too, were covered in hives.

So yeah...That's how we first realized she had developed a milk allergy.

We started with a fussy, refluxy baby and it progressed to frankly bloody stool much later. I wish I had figured it out much earlier on! You've seen my post on MSPI?

At 3 1/2 weekd old DD got incredibly fussy & gassy, had terrible reflux, started to get a rash on her face & chest, & started having green mucousy poo. I read the mucousy poo could be a dairy allergy so I started by eliminating obvious dairy which greatly improved her fussiness, gas, & rash, but her reflux continued to get worse, her poo stayed mucousy, & she started to get congested. That's about the time Mrs. Jacks posted her post "beyond colic..." & I started eliminating hidden dairy & soy. DD is 9 weeks & finally starting to get better (she's acting more like a "normal" baby) & we're getting close to yellow poo again! (never thought I'd be happy about poo color but I know we're on the right road bc of it) lol

On her worst day I considered formula but saw that the alimentum still had casein in it & with DD still having issues with the hidden dairy & soy I figured I was just as well off getting more strict with my elimination.

I have heard it helps lots of babies though!! Glad its helping your lo!

For those with LO's with a milk protein allergy....What symptoms did they show? My husband and I are pretty sure our son has a milk protein allergy. We are feeding him a combination of breast milk (both expressed and straight breastfeeding) and formula. We have gone through a variety of formulas to see what would work for our son. Our last formulas we tried were the Similac spit-up bc he spits up all the dang time and the Similac for fussiness and gas. Both did nothing. He had several days where he would be screaming in pain. Especially at night.

When I was an infant, I also had a milk protein allergy, and I heard it is genetic, so I figure it makes sense.

A few days ago, we bought some Alimentum to see if it would make a difference. Within 24 hours, we began to see that he was a much calmer baby. We aren't sure if it is just a coincidence, but if Alimentum is our answer, we will be relieved.

Of course I will be making an appointment at the peds tomorrow to see if we can get a diagnosis, but I would love to hear from other mommies that have lo's with the same issues. Thank you all in advance!
