My littlest just turned 1, and he knows exactly what to do to get mama's attention. They're smarter than we realize! </p> <p>My oldest was a big whiner when he wanted attention. My DH and I were on different pages at first, and I made him realize that when he was giving him attention after a whine, it was then that he would whine more. The phase lasted from 18 months to about 24 months when he finally had a huge language burst and could articulate what he was looking for. It's tough to ignore while it's happening, but as long as you keep reacting to the behavior, she knows it's a way to get your attention. </p> <p>While she's doing it, ignore her. I've no problem saying those things to her but I just don't think it's quite on her level yet, if that makes sense. Like all day. It's rarely about anything specific and she mainly only does it with me, so I know it's just because she wants my attention. I do my best but the whining is going to make crazy!
