No minivan here but I definitely tried to install our car seat in any cars we were seriously considering buying. Not just to see if it would fit but also how easy it was to install.

My Kia Sedona has plenty of space between the rear facing carseats (Graco Milestones) and the front seats. But I would definitely take a carseat to test any you are looking at. Better safe than sorry.

Sienna owner here. Three car seats (two RF). Plenty of space. The middle seats also shift front and back to adjust.

we have a sienna with a chicco nextfit rear facing and have zero issues. I can adjust the middle captain's seats to be closer or further from the front seats (but the third row isn't adjustable, so obviously this would impact leg room in the third row).

mini vans are awesome. they are designed for families and car seats!

@Sams Mom: That's a good idea, thanks for the tip! I HATE car shopping though, and am hoping to avoid wasteing my time on anything that isn't going to work for us in the first place.

@nanilani: Not a minivan owner, but when I went car shopping with my older sister we took all of her car seats (2 highback boosters and one booster) with us and tried them out in a few cars to make sure that they fit 3 across. They shouldn't have a problem with you trying carseats out in one you're test driving to potentially buy.

Awesome, thanks for the reassurances everyone! I would've assumed no issues in the first place (it's a minivan for goodness sake, shouldn't it be made to fit carseats?), but then I saw a video review of the Pacifica that implied that owner's carseats were a tight squeeze and I started second guessing my assumptions. I'll probably still plan on measuring before buying anything, but I wouldn't even bother going in to test drive a model if I thought it wasn't going to solve our legroom problem in the first place. Thanks again!

I've put two rear-facing Clek Fllos in the middle row captins seats in a Sienna a few times. It's not perfect, but worked for tall drivers.

We have Sienna, only one rear facing seat but it's behind the driver which is DH most of the time and he needs a lot of legroom and we have no issues.

We’re finally looking into a minivan now that we have two rear-facing car seats! My husband refuses to ride in my Focus anymore because it’s so cramped with the seats in there. Do any vans out there have an issue with fitting RF convertible seats in the second row without compromising front row legroom? I’m thinking Honda Odyssey may be our best bet with the magic slide seats that can slide front to back, but am also open to other options. We have Chicco Keyfit and Nextfit seats.
