Glad it has gone well! Another idea is my niece loves shirts with characters with glasses.

Just wanted to update. LO got his glasses the first week of November. It took a couple of weeks of wearing them for short periods of time and then one day it just seemed to click and he wore them all day and every day since. We have had so many positive interactions with friends and even strangers and of course our families have encouraged him too.

My friends 1yo ahas a pair amd she would.not. wear them at first if her mama put them on, but she was fine when her in home daycare lady put them on. Once she was used to them she was fine but if there's a struggle at first, have someone else try!

@caterw: our insurance covered the frames 100%. I did non glare which wasn't covered by insurance so paid $90 for the lenses. I will have to ask about the warranty when we pick them up.

@jhd: that's outrageous! I hope you didn't get really overcharged for the frames also.... We paid $220 total for glasses and frames with a one year warranty for scratches on the lease or frame and stretched out bands (plus they will refit them for free any time if she bends them out of shape).

@caterw: good to know! I can't imagine doing without the strap at this point either. The lady at our place said when they order replacement straps they are $50, so that's why she recommended amazon.

@jhd: we do have a strap and I definitely would not go without it. DD is a pretty careful and tidy child but she still likes to bounce around and flip and stuff- her glasses would come off like forty five times a day if they weren't strapped to her face. We haven't lost them yet *knock on wood*. Our glasses place replaces the strap for like ten bucks I think (can't remember exactly but it is cheap) and does a free replacement if it gets damaged within the warranty period of a year.

@MrsScallop: what a happy boy! He's adorable. I hope you all are doing well. I'm glad to hear you have had a good experience with the glasses. I didn't realize there were choices in shapes. We got rounded frames because that's what our office had.

@caterw: good to know they can be bent back into shape if needed.

The lady who fitted LO told us to check Amazon for replacement straps because they are usually so much cheaper. Do you all use the straps to help them stay on?

@MrsScallop: They can get a little bent, but when we went in to get replacement lenses, they were able to bend them back to the proper shape so DD didn't have them slipping down her nose.

Charlie has some miraflex glasses and while he doesn't appreciate them, I love them! They have a good range of colors and shapes to fit your child and they are pretty flexible. I do think they can get misshapen if they are bent a lot and due to them being all plastic, they aren't so adjustable, but I've been happy with them so far.

@caterw: Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Your daughter is so adorable! I had thought of looking for books with characters wearing glasses, but I love your idea of pointing out other people with glasses. I wear glasses myself and so do 3 out of LO's 4 grandparents. We can also look for other people we meet. And thanks for the tip to work up to wearing them for longer amounts of time each day, if needed. And I'm definitely not above bribing! ;)

My daughter is 3 and has had them for about a year and a half. It truly sucked at first- she cried when I put them on her and would constantly take them off. We started out wearing an hour a day and worked up to longer. I also started wearing my glasses all the time and pointed out every single person that we saw with glasses on. We got some books about glasses, I bribed with Oreos...

Eventually (after a month or so) she got to love them! She reminds me to grab them or puts them on herself in the morning and she picked out her rainboots, rain jacket, and umbrella to match them. I attached a picture so your kiddo can see how cool she looks!

@Truth Bombs: thanks so much for sharing this with me. that's exactly what the eye doc said. once he realizes he can see so much better with them on he won't want to take them off. it was hard to get him to keep anything on today in the office. and i was browsing instagram for pics of cute kiddos in miraflex glasses. :)

@jhd: my LO's BFF has these and they are awesome! She started wearing them right at 3. She realized pretty quickly that they helped her see better, so her mom and dad really didn't have to fight her to keep them on. And she's so darn cute in them!

Any experiences with Miraflex glasses? Especially with a toddler? LO is 2.5 and we found out today he needs glasses for severe nearsightedness.
