The only bad side effect was that my sex drive seemed lower. I had constant spotting...it felt like I was on my period every 2 weeks. It was difficult getting mine out...my doctor almost couldn't find it...he was just about to give up to do an ultrasound to locate it but he was able to find where it had shifted/embedded and while it wasn't so painful it was SUPER uncomfortable getting it removed. I spotted off and on for 6 weeks before months with nothing. </p> <p>I do have off and on spotting now, though (I've had it for a little over a year), which is annoying. Over the summer I had like 6 weeks of light spotting for a few days then nothing, then starting up again. I went and had an U/S but everything looked normal....then it stopped again for several months, and now I'll have random spotting days. </p> <p>A little inconvenient, but overall not a big problem. Although it was supposed to reduce the frequency of my period (I was getting it every two weeks) and it did not change that, but otherwise no issues. I used to get migraines from the pill. I took ibuprofen before getting the Mirena inserted and removed to ease the cramping.
