The first day I was pretty uncomfortable with the cramping (I usually do not have cramps with my period) but it was gone by the next day. I have had spotting for the past three weeks so I'm hoping that will end soon. It hasn't affected my milk supply which was something I really worried about. It was normal but intense since I hadn't had one in so long. I then didn't have anything but one day of bleeding two weeks later on March 6th.<br /> My hormones were all over the place and I was kinda miserable.<br /> I just yesterday got AF again and what I feel is probably my first REAL one since having it removed.<br /> We are also trying for number 3 and it's been an emotional roller coaster. I am finally feeling better and it's close to two months after having it out.<br /> It's a process that your body has to go through. I spotted the first month after insertion and than said good bye to cramps and bleeding. It was wonderful. My OB said Mirena is a great choice after birth because it doesn’t contain estrogen, which is what can mess with the milk supply. </p> <p>When I had it before, I had bleeding at first for a while (a few weeks, on and off, like a period), and then for the years after that NO periods at all (not even spotting!). It was fantastic! Can't comment on milk supply effect because she wasn't bf'ing at the time I got it. No noticeable side effects for me other than much lighter periods after a while. It was more like just spotting than a period! and I loved not having to take a pill every day!
