I had one inserted when not on my period. They gave me a pill also to help open my cervix.

I am getting it Friday and haven't had a period. Will be almost 10 weeks PP. My doctor just gave me a pill to take 2 hours before to soften or open, can't remember what she said, my cervix.

I had mine put in and I wasn't on my period. I was 8 weeks pp, so I had no clue when my period would come again.

They should still do it. They prefer it to be at the end of your period so your cervix is still slightly open. It might be a little more painful since your cervix will be closed, but they should still be able to do it. You might have to take a pregnancy test before hand though:)

I'm supposed to have a Mirena IUD inserted tomorrow. They asked me to schedule it for during my period but it looks like my period is later than I expected (not pregnant!). Did anyone have it put in when you weren't having your period? I'm not sure if it's just the best time to do it or if it's the only time. I already have DH coming home from work early to watch LO so I can go to the appointment, so I'm hoping I won't have to reschedule.
