It was a breeze, no pain at all. My cycles were regular right away and I got pregnant after 3 cycles of active trying, 8 months after removal.

Removal was so easy. My doctor had me cough and next thing the Mirena was out. I didn't even feel it. I had a light period for the first month post-removal and then had a regular period and was pregnant after!

Way easier out than in, though not exactly a picnic either way! I'm pretty sure I felt back to normal by the next day. I didn't TTC after removing mine, but my first cycle post iud was super long, and after a few months I was more regulated (for me- I have irregular cycles anyway)

I wasn't ovulating with mine. Around 28 days after it came out I had what felt like the 3 years of popped I had missed in one huge raging mess. I had to stay home for 4 days and deal. After that my periods and ovulation regulated. I was charting.

I didn't TTC after removing mine, but took it out because of the horrendous cramps it caused me. Anyway, one day I couldn't take it anymore and pulled it out myself! It literally was easier than taking out a tampon. Just kind of slid right out. The next time I went to the doctor, I told her id removed it and she laughed and said "Great! No need for an appointment for that!"

The removal was great, so much better than insertion and super super fast. I don't remember exact specifics about removal, but I think I got it removed in the summer and then pregnant in November. I think my cycle came back pretty fast from what I remember. I had a hard hard time with the mirena, such painful cramps and very frequent spotting, that I was afraid Id have issues regaining a normal cycle or even that I had scarring. But my obgyn said everything looked fine.

@jodyblair: super easy removal - hurt for maybe 30 seconds. Removed it in early July, had 28 day apart super light (like one day of spotting) periods, then one full regular period in October and conceived that cycle!

I had two uneventful removals. The second time the string had been trimmed too short but they still managed to fish it out painlessly.

I had one removed after 6 years when we TTC #1. I think it took us 3 months. It seemed like the hormone had worn off prior to removal since my period had already returned.

I had the second one removed 10 months or so after I got it to TTC#2. My PMS was horrible after removal but I don't know if that was my post partum periods or the IUD. It took us 5 months to get pregnant. FWIW I was BFing for 3 of those months.

I had paragard and I didn't feel the removal. Mine was partially expelled. The doc said it has to come out and seconds later it was in a bag. I didn't feel a thing

Removal was extremely easy, only took a few moments and didn't hurt at all. We used condoms for several months after its removal, but got pregnant as soon as we neglected to use protection. My period returned within weeks of the Mirena removal and was regular after that (was regular before).

@jodyblair: removal was super easy for me. My cycle length was out of wack (long 40ish day cycles) after removal, but I conceived on the first month trying after removal. I got it removed about 3 months before we started ttc.

@Mrs. Coral: That's our plan exactly! I have PCOS and had long cycles before I got pregnant with ds. But for the last few months, I've been ovulating regularly and having predictable 32 day cycles. I'm really hoping this continues even after the mirena is out!

@jodyblair: Removal was a million times better than insertion. I had it removed in December, used condoms until February when we started TTC. We conceived in May.

My cycles were normal after removal--just not as light as they were on the Mirena. We wanted to give my body time to acclimate w/o the IUD, hence the Dec-Feb gap.

I've had two removals (first expired and needed replacing). Both were quick and straightforward. Neither was comfortable, but, I was feeling fine again within a few minutes.

My first cycle after taking it out was weird, but, things were normal again within 6 weeks.

I conceived on my 8th cycle after removal. I have endometriosis and my partner also has some mild male factor issues that probably increased our time to conceive.
