I remember wondering I needed to follow up and then it finally stopped. After that, smooth sailing! When I got my second one last year, I spotted for just a day or two.</p> <p>@Mommy Finger: I love mine! Got the first after my second and last baby, once we got through the initial spotting I basically didn’t have a period at all. It was so low maintenance: I got mine replaced with a second one after five years (last fall) and it has been really smooth, no periods since. My doctor said that it was normal, even though it was more than 6 months, because I was breastfeeding. I'm not sure why I stuck with it, probably because I didn't have a good alternative for birth control while breastfeeding. I was still bleeding from birth so hard to say if it was that or the IUD but I had spotting for at least 3 months, maybe 4. My doctor said regular spotting was considered normal for the first 6 months. And then basically no period or spotting the whole time I had it. (I think I had 2-6 days of spotting per year at most)</p> <p>My second one was placed when my first was removed. I only had very light spotting for four weeks after that one. </p> <p>@Mommy Finger: I am on my second and I have loved them. I have no period. Very, very rare, light spotting. Had my first one for the full five years. But I think they have now been approved for seven years.
