@littleveesmommy: @Sugar.Biscuit: wow, I'm going through something very similar right now and just posted it this morning. Day 5 of heavy bleeding and I have no idea what it is... I decided though to get a test later today just for some closure. Sorry you ladies are going through this too. It is difficult not knowing for sure.

@duckduckkristen: I'm so sorry you had to go through all that for the docs to confirm what you had feared was happening. It is so true that sometimes your body knows best and you jut have to trust your instincts.

After reading your post now I'm confused again. While at the ER yesterday I had some pretty horrible cramps that I described to DH as almost like my early labor cramps (and I never used to cramp during periods before). After those terrible cramps I went to the toilet and a whole lotta blood came out. The ER nurse and docs did a urine pregnancy test and HCG, both which came back negative for pregnancy so they didn't move forward with an ultrasound. Now I'm wondering. Oh well, I guess not much to do now. I'm still bleeding heavier than normal for a period but ill follow up with my gyno in a week or two.

So glad to have HB and you fellow ladies to lean onto and discuss everything with. Truly a great thing here.

When I had a miscarriage at 4 or 5 weeks it was like a much lighter period with the worst cramps I had ever had. I don't remember any clots, but I did get a very faint positive line the day before I started bleeding. My OB also blew me off, like oh it's probably nothing, and then when my blood test results came back negative, the nurse who called me told me I was never pregnant! I had even had an ultrasound when the bleeding started (DH is a radiologist so I got it through him and not my OB) that showed a yolk sac! So obviously I had been pregnant and called back to talk to a midwife who finally looked back over everything and confirmed it was a miscarriage, then had me come it to talk it over and make sure everything was ok with me.

Without a positive test it would be hard to say for sure it was a miscarriage, but you know your body best! And if it was, I'm very sorry. :(

DH & I have been looking into a local catholic practice & have decided to transfer there. I have some referrals for an OBGYN & plan on discussing it with my new GP. One of the GP's is a member of our church. we have seen him give lectures on NFP & like what he offers. I am looking forward to a fresh start with someone new.

@Pumpkinspice: thanks for the positive thoughts! They tested my urine and Hcg with both results saying I wasn't pregnant. The doc did an exam and is now chalking it up to a freak irregularly heavy period. I have to f/u with gyno within next few weeks but looks like I was wrong. Glad I was wrong but it really was scary the amount of blood there was.

@Sugar.Biscuit: I'm reading this as I sit in the emergency room. It's the first post that showed up when I searched the boards under miscarriage. I can only imagine how scared you were/are cause I really am now! And sad too...

I've bled through 6+ tampons since late last night (as in I'm glad I wore black pants to work type of bleed through). I've also passed some size able clots and some tissue, and after phone tag with my doctors the nurse said I need to head to the nearest ER right away. =( I think I might have miscarried and have no idea I was even pregnant. My last period was 5 weeks ago and I'm on mini pill but I'm still irregular so I didn't bother testing, but the lots, tissue and all this blood is convincing me I was. Doctor said I need to be seen to make sure there is no other type of internal bleeding and if it is a miscarriage, that everything is ok.

I'm really freaking out here. =*( Any advice ladies?

@Sugar.Biscuit: I'm glad you are switching doctors. When I was havingg issues getting pregnant, my doctor actually set it up where I could go in and take a blood test whenever I wanted, as a standing lab order. You need somebody who is supportive of you and everything you are going through.

I just wanted to make one more comment for a little closure. After mind f-ing myself the last couple days I have decided to accept this as a miscarriage. Everything that I had experienced was so far out of the norm for me that I can't just dismiss this as messed up period. All the symptoms that I was experiencing before hand have disappeared with the passing of the "clot". The worse part about all this is that yet again I feel like my doctor was dismissing my concerns. I know for a fact that you can be pregnant and not have it register on a HPT especially when it is early and there is something wrong with the embryo. So for her to tell me there was no way I could have been pregnant is BS. Sometimes a woman just knows, it's like a sixth sense & I refuse to dismiss my feelings reguarding this. Having mulled this over for a while I have decided to switch Doctors & my DH is with me 100%. My experience with this physician has caused me nothing but stress, I have gone through years of tests to diagnose simple disorders, and I'm just fed up!

I'm sorry to hear about this :( I had this happen when I wasn't pregnant. It was most likely because my cervix was stenosed (almost closed) so the menstrual blood was 'backing up' in my pelvis (causing horrific cramps and back pain), clotting, and then coming out all at one time. I'm not saying this is what happened, but weird stuff can happen up there and definitely call your doc about it.

I had something similar when I was only 18. I thought I'd started my period but then the crampy became horrible and then the bleeding started and I actually passed out in my mothers hallway as I was saying "I think I'm gonna". I had a D & C done and there was 'evidence' of a miscarriage but I was so early and had no idea I was pregnant no one could say for 100%.

@Sugar.Biscuit: I second the doctor calling! They should be able to blood work to tell if there is any HGC left. If you were pregnant, even if this was a miscarriage, there should still be trace amounts of HGC.

It was a very light flow yesterday & it was moderate to heavy when I found the clot & now there is almost nothing there earlier today. This really doesn't seem like a period.

I've has really clotty periods before. Even if you were having a miscarriage, there may not be any tissue because everything would be miniscule, especially if you never got a positive test. Passing a clot can be very crampy and icky in general though

If you never get a positive test, you could still have been pregnant. HPTs register 25 units of the hormone-above 5 is considered pregnant. I think they call that a chemical pregnancy

Please read and offer any insite. Ive never been through anything like this before. My last cycle was wack! I was a week late for my period and when I did finally start bleeding yeaterday the cramps were worse then the bleed. Last night and today the cramps were horrible & it was into my back & I was so nauseous! By lunch time I decided to change my tampon and a large tissue looking clot came out. It was round, bigger than a quarter but smaller then a half dollar. I continued to feel sick for a while but now tonight I feel almost perfectly normal.

I was convinced that I was pregnant cause it felt like I ha a walnut below my belly button but my test kept coming up neg. my walnut feeling is gone. I've read where some women never get there BFP on a HPT cause there isn't enough hormone built up because there is something already wrong with the embryo with end result being a MC. Is this true? I'm pretty convinced that this is what happened to me. I've never see a thing like that before & I don't know what to do about it.
