@artbee: yeah, DS definitely naps BETTER in his crib, but if we have to be somewhere I don't worry too much about it.

@Coco Bee: My LO used to need movement to nap and it sucked because it was so much work for me to get her to nap.... but like you said I didn't have to work around nap time for my plans. Now she's a great crib napper and my life is sooooo much easier because I'm not rocking her to sleep all the time. I'd rather miss out on things I think.

aww what a disappointment!! but I totally understand.

Thankfully LO is still young and will nap other places - in the stroller, baby carrier or car. I also want to get him conditioned to napping in a pack and play. But I know this might be harder to continue as he gets older.

Naps are so tricky.

thanks for the advice girls, I wrote my friend and told her that I will try my best to make it but will either be late or have to leave early because of the nap. I don't want to have to miss a first birthday!

We miss things but I would try to make it to a bday party since a 1st bday party only happens once. Maybe she will nap on the way over in the car. If not, and she's cranky, then I would make a quick appearance and then leave.

I pick and choose my battles - we often miss things but also try to make others work out.

If you choose to skip out on the party, for sure your friend must understand!

I am the same way. I do everything in my power to work around nap time to ensure my LO isnt a cranky mess. Maybe you can just go later and stick around for a bit after the party is over?

I would hope that any parent would understand the importance of baby naps!!

We miss a lot of baby activities because of the morning nap. As for the party, though, would your LO nap in the car on the way over? That's often our game plan.

My friend's LO's first birthday party is coming up! We just got the invite and I was so excited! But it's smack dab in the middle of nap time. Even if I put my LO down a little early (which isn't easy, she doesn't get tired until her nap time and sometimes I have to wait a little later and tire her out more) by the time she naps and we do the hour drive over there, the party will pretty much be over. I don't think it will be worth it to skip the nap or have her nap after because then she'll be a cranky tired mess the whole time and that's no fun for anyone.

I'm just hoping since she has a LO the same age that she'll understand. Do you have to miss out on things because of nap time, or do you find a way to work around it? Should I try to work around it?
