We have that same style from ON, just in the girly colors. It's what she wore last winter as well. In our experience when they are outside they forget about the hat because they are too busy playing.

The ones that she wears are from the children's place. One is knit with fleece on the inside and has the long sides that cover her ears. Her mittens are just hand me downs from osh kosh. They are stretchy and soft. She generally keeps them on (she wears them at daycare when they take a bigger kid to the bus stop).

We have this set from Old Navy: http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=40231&vid=1&pid=634437002

The hat stays on well and doesn't bother him. the mittens are a different story!

@MamaG: B would wear a hat until he turned 10 months old. Now, he puts them on his head, takes them off and then throws them... oh and laughs and does his happy dance

We can't keep mittens on, but she will wear a hat. I like the sets from Old Navy. We don't fasten them under her chin as she doesn't like it. We also have a knit animal hat from BRU that is a hit. Having longer sides that keep her ears covered is important to me.

B's school suggested sending mittens and hats for when they play outside. B does not like having things on his head or hands so I'm sure this will be a FAIL. But, regardless, any favorite brands? I need something to stay on an active toddler.
