i wasn't ready either, but man, having a toddler is so much fun! don't get me wrong, it's really hard because their cries aren't just for "hungry, wet & tired" but DD is such a ham and i love seeing her little personality develop!

@Mrs Hedgehog: Time is flying! I remember when you had her. :)

I'm just going to echo the other ladies and say that this age has its challenges but is so much fun! You really get to take them around and do new different things. And they are still pretty little and super cute. Plus new styles that don't involve onesies become more commonplace which is fun imo. :)

Every transition has been hard, but they are so much fun as toddlers, watching their little brains going crazy with all the new information. I love being able to ask questions and her actually respond, I love when she surprises me with a new word, or a silly new game.

I am just loving watching her grow and learn! I guess it helps that E has never been a cuddly baby - even as a teeny newborn, she hated being held (I figured I was too hot for her) - but now she's older (almost 11 months) she actually reaches for me for cuddles and puts her head on my shoulder  . That said, I do get pangs every now and again when I think how quickly she is growing up.... I think that's pretty normal!

It is so fun to watch hem grow and learn and become little people, but that doesn't mean I didn't ugly cry at their preschool graduation. I can't believe I have three kindergarteners!!!

@sorrycharlie: totally agree! I was a crying mess when LO turned a month old (pretty sure hormones contributed too) because I felt like he was getting too old too fast! And I seriously NEVER believed I'd be so excited to see him learning new things and getting bigger, but it's so fun! He's almost 7 months and it's the best age so far (I never believed people when they said that either!).

@sorrycharlie: Because I *don't* love other people's kids at this age. But when you understand their odd little communication methods and when *you* are the mom they want all the time, it's completely different. :silly:

I totally felt this way! :) I just wanted LO to stay little forever! Don't grow up!

He's 2 now and I got to say I do love every new things he learns and it's just so much for watching grow up little by little. Seeing his little personality develop and being more independent.

the only thing that helped was time! I completely understand. I cried a LOT (and during many milestones lol). but now, at 20 months, the sting of losing my "infant" disappeared entirely. cause she's still my baby :) she is huggy, kissy, snuggly, total mama's girl and a little spunky beast that loves to boogie down and tell me all sorts of things I didn't know she knew.

my advice: let yourself be sad. cry and cry. get it all out! pushing it down won't help, you'll cry at some point ;) but then rejoice that TODAY, she is barely different than yesterday. and today, she won't be much different than today. it's not an overnight thing, I *promise* you!

It's so hard. DH and I go through this every few weeks - I feel like everything is changing too fast. But, truly, the toddler stage has been my favorite so far. DD may no longer my squishy baby, but she is my cuddly, communicative, hilarious, loving little girl. There is so much to look forward to.

All I can say is that it just gets so much more fun! Yes, to an extent you lose a bit of the cuddly baby behavior. But on the other hand, you get to see more personality and independence emerge. My LO just turned 2 and I'm loving this age!

@Mrs Hedgehog: I think you'll keep going through something like this at every transition - but just like it was awesome watching her learn and grow over these last few months, watching her learn and grow over the next few is going to be just as good if not better! I never thought I would want a toddler around but my 2 year old is SO MUCH FUN, he says the coolest things and is really figuring things out and I love just spending time with him. I truly never believed it when people say every age is my favorite - but it is so true!!

I guess this is just the first of so many transitions in her life. She will still be super little but she won't be my squishy little baby anymore and I'm actually having a hard time coping with that. She is so close to waking and is learning so much do quickly! I am proud and excited for her but darn it, I don't want to lose my tiny baby! I actually cried last night when I went to laid her down in her bed and she smiled and waved at me before rolling over and putting herself to sleep. (But I'm not crazy. I also enjoyed not fighting her to go to sleep too.) I have been soaking up every moment I can. She isn't even 1 yet. We have a couple months for that but she is getting so big so fast, I can't even believe she was just a tiny little squishy newborn just last year.

Anybody else experience this? How did you get over it?
