I'll say right of passage. One of the joys of a mobile baby is multiple heart attacks for mom and dad and lots of bumps and falls for baby. :bummed:

K went through this and only fell back and hit her head once, mayyyybe twice before she figured out how to not do that anymore. Even from standing, it wasn't hard enough to do anything more than scare her. We have a solid backed crib with breathable bumpers.

Go E, she's growing up so fast!

I think it's a rite of passage? We just moved L out of her crib at 15 months, and she had been standing up in her crib and running around in circles for the last 3 or so months. This led to her falling SO MANY TIMES. So many bumps on the crib. I was a little scared about it, but she didn't seem to mind it because she kept doing it!

we have breathable bumpers and one end of the crib is solid. DS still bumps his head on it at 17 months. usually he is wiggling in his sleep. He has never cried or seemed hurt by it.

@kjpugs: I would guess a right of passage. We're about to lower M's crib, too.

@Foodnerd81: M started crawling on Saturday...twin babies! :)

@Madison43: We've had the same issue- but my fear is that it would hurt a LOT more if she fell into the side from a seated or standing position? :sad: that's my big worry!

I think it's just a right of passage :( She sounds very adventurous, but maybe not too cautious! I've heard of people teaching babies to sit back down by kind of poking the back of their knees so they sit, repeatedly, to avoid them standing up and getting stuck or falling backward.

My cautious little C is 9 months and just starting to crawl, and just pulled herself up for the first time yesterday.

We're not crawling yet, but my LO is constantly rolling into the crib bars at night and gets all upset. It's not hard enough to hurt her, so I think she's just startled or annoyed by it. I'm considering it a right of passage, though I want to explain to her that if she didn't sleep thisclose to the edge, she'd wouldn't bump her head! :silly:

E has been pulling herself up to seated (and sometimes almost to standing, depending) and today gave me a huge scare when I saw her do it in the crib. Obviously, we moved it down immediately. She also crawled OFFICIALLY for the first time today! (Towards our pug, who ran away, which made her cry :silly:)

ETA- E is 6 1/2 months old

That being said, we put her in the crib sitting up to try it out after lowering it, and she freaked out, pulled up, stood like she was in jail, and then bumped her face and cried. Makes me worried that if she's pulling/sitting up and exploring her crib like the crazy-explorative girl she is, what if she pulls up and falls back (she is NOT good at balance yet just pulling) or bumps her head falling from sitting even? We have up breathable bumpers (all we're comfortable with because she likes to nuzzle them) but the ends are both solid panels. Seems like so much area for her to hurt herself!

Is there something I'm missing? Or is this just a rite of passage for kids becoming more mobile? Any advice?
