Thanks everyone! I guess I need to be more diligent about pulling the nozzle off the cap for washing, instead of washing them together.

I'm super paranoid about this stuff and I'd be grossed out but wouldn't worry. Just sanitize before the next use. I always stick my camelbak mouthpiece on one of the dishwasher pegs.

Back when I was pumping, I had mold develop in the yellow filter part, which the milk directly touched. (Lesson learned to dry with q tip). Anyway, my ped made the good point that stomach acid would take care of the mold. She didn't even have me throw out my milk for my 4 week old.

That is a very very common occurrence with those bittles, FYI. I wouldn't worry about it, but I would make sure you clean it regularly.

Not a huge deal! I'd just soak it in hot soapy water and then scrub it with the nipple cleaner part of a bottle brush.

It's fine! You would have to ingest an awful lot to make you sick, and our bodies are pretty good about being defence shields for our babies, so even if you did get sick, more than likely, your baby is fine!

I am 8 weeks pregnant and drink about 2 Camelbak water bottles a day, sometimes switching out the bottle (I have 3) but sometimes not. I wash them like twice a week. Today the water tasted off and I opened it up and there was black/green mold deep on the inside of the nozzle :( Based on how much was there (like a square centimeter, total??), I imagine it had been there for a couple of days...?

How big of an issue do you think this is. Is it only a concern because of salmonella and listeria concerns? If I don't get sick, can I figure the baby's probably ok? Do you think that at this point, the tiny amount I've been exposed to will be taken care of by my system before it reaches the baby? Ugh.
