A bug came out in my coffee and we discovered it was infested. I cant look at those coffee pots the same anymore. She threw hers away too. But, if you want to salvage it, cleaning with water and a small amount of bleach should kill the mold (if there's any anywhere else). In the morning, rinse it off, run it through the dishwasher, and then run vinegar water through the machine itself a few times. We get mold in our commuter mugs and stuff and I always soak them overnight in bleach water and then scrub them clean to disinfect them. Ewwwwww. </p> <p>I ran the removable pieces and ran them through the dishwasher, and I wiped out the inside parts I could reach, but I'm not sure if I should just throw the whole thing away. It's a cheap coffee pot (like $20). It feels crazy to throw it out, but I feel like there must be secret mold hiding in there and i have no idea how to get it clean. </p> <p>Thoughts?? </p>
