I think the only difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 foods is that Stage 2 are a mixture of two (aka sweet potatoes and apples) were as Stage 1 you would buy them separately.

We don't even have baby foods here that are only one fruit or veg - ALL of ours, from stage 1 upwards, are combinations of two to four fruits and vegetables. In LO's very first week of solids, she had twelve different fruits and veggies. The one food for three days rule is not something that is regularly done here (or in the UK from my understanding as that is where we were when we started solids). Relax, she will be fine!

@PrincessBaby: Ahhh that's great that she STTN! A is getting more and more dependant on sleeping in my arms for naps and then coming into our bed at about 4/5am to sleep there. I have GOT to break that cycle for her but I'm doing a two-day dash to the UK next week and she'll be so screwed up from that, that I don't feel it's fair to do it just before or after. I have a mental note to start it after the trip. Or I will force DH to help me!

@travelgirl1: Um I chickened out too! She ended up STTN last night (9-530) so I decided to see what happens tonight (chicken!)....I gave her banana purée at like 7 last night then we did bath/bedtime/nurse, so I wondered if the solids helped her sleep better. That's why I gave her the purée tonight so close to bedtime. I always try desperately to repeat what I did when she has a good night's sleep but it never works:(. I'm sure she'll wake up 5x tonight even though I did everything the same!!!! And then tomorrow I'll have to muster up the courage to sleep train!

not a fail at all. the stages are all about texture. we skipped stage 1 because LO just liked to spray the liquid everywhere instead of eating!

You should bw fine. I think ideally you give food one at a time just in case there is a reaction, but once she has had each one three times then you can mix. Looks like H is good with both sweet potato and apple :)

Ps, have you started sleep training yet? I chickened out, but soon!

We jumped to stage two right away. It's not a "fail" and it doesn't increase a chance of an allergic reaction :) She'll be ok

I wouldn't worry about it. I think the concern is just that if she did have a reaction you wouldn't easily know which one she was allergic to. I don't think she's any more likely to react by having the two together.

I wouldn't worry. If she has some sort of a reaction you know it is either apples or sweet potatoes. I could be wrong, but I thought the stages relate to the texture of the food (like stage one is the most watery) so if she ate it that is awesome!

So today H and I were out and about and I saw some organic purée packs and noticed they had sweet potato apple. I thought it sounded yum, and we were planning on trying sweet potatoes next (have done bananas for 3 days) so I bought it.

Um I did not know that there are purée stages when buying them (I've been planning on making all of them, this was a purchase on a whim), and this is a Stage 2. I gave her some at around 3pm and again at 730pm. Is this bad? Isn't there more chance of a. Reaction since she's got to process 2 things? Can one have an allergic reaction to sweet potatoes and apples?

If something were wrong- I'd already know, right? She'd be throwing up or something?

Sigh. Mom Fail.

I thought the 2 on the pack meant 2 SERVINGS.

Dur ta dur!
