Ugh my clothing is a disaster! I feel like my pants are always either too short or too long and constantly falling down, even ones that are too tight! Especially those cause my muffin top pushes it down :(. I would love to really update my wardrobe but I've been a little off with the budget lately and I also hope to be pregnant soon! My plan is: (if I don't get pregnant before this happens) once I pay off this lingering credit card bill, buy a few new pairs of pants and maybe a couple of long loose tops. I plan to go to old navy, uniqlo, and h&m. If I get pregnant this month or next month, I'll buy some maternity or early belly/bloat friendly pants asap and then try to get some nice maternity clothes for summer.

I dreading trying to find my Mom Style this Summer. I'll have a newborn that needs to nurse and a 5 year old, so I'll be walking around outside to the playground etc.
I have 2 of these skorts that look really cute:
http://www.spunkwear.com/category-s/1948.htm

Nursing tops are the biggest pain, so I'll probably do the tee shirt over a nursing tank combo. I just end up buying tanks and tees from old navy or target on sale, so they don't last more than 6 months after I stretch them out. Accessories end up being my saving grace when I have to resort to a disposable wardrobe during a transition time.

I always need concealer under my eyes and mascara to look like a friendly person instead of a zombie. I've spent a ton of time experimenting with my hair to master a good top knot, and a half up half down style to wear on rough days. That was worth it.

mom style clothing, yes.
makeup, yes
hair...no. I've had a pixie for about 13 years. And I'm growing it out but it's about a year long commitment...ugh.. Its as long as its been in years right now and its just this awkward shaggy mess. But at least I can tuck it behind my ears.
So from the neck down, I'm on it. From the neck up...ick.

I'm good at the weekends, when I can wear my nice boots and have a bit of time to put my face on. I tend to wear skinny jeans and tops or dresses with thick black tights. I invested in a leather jacket a few weeks back and I love it! Weekday school runs have been a bit of a style disaster over the winter but I'm going back to work next week so I will be back in my dresses and heels and will no longer be dealing with "walk to school in all weathers" hair.

I basically live in skinny jeans with a cardigan, scarf, and boots. When I'm not pregnant I wear a lot of dresses with leggings and boots. My hair is easy right now, but I'm dreading the post baby shedding phase. It was such a disaster for so long!

I am partial to this one:

http://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=983365062

Oh and another thing, I am strict about getting my hair cut. I have that kind of fine hair that doesn't look good unless it is really long or kind of short, so I keep it short and go for regular hair cuts. I finally found a stylist I love and I will sacrifice to go to him. I stretch as much as I can, to about 8 weeks between cuts.

My mom style has morphed to either no makeup or a dash of mascara and lipstick once a week. I have wavy hair, so it survives really well from day to day without having to be styled. Basically I do nothing :silly:

Clothing-wise, I've learned to be more careful with necklines so carrying my toddler doesn't show anything I'd rather be covered. I've also discovered a real love for dresses as they're a complete outfit without much thought.

My winter style is jeans, long sleeved fitted t-shirt and a scarf... or some times short sleeve t-shirt, open cardigan, and a scarf. Work is typically a dress and leggings.

Summer is hard. I want to say it is usually a skirt and a t-shirt except when I am camping and it is cargo pants.

I really hate pants (always have). I don't mind getting dirty or playing in a skirt so that helps.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: That sounds exactly like what I did...once I went back to work, I realized that dresses and tailored black pants were really the workhorses of my wardrobe. I really stepped up my game and now I feel like my work wear is really good.

The weekends though are another story. I tend to dress for comfort and I despise the way I look in leggings and a loose top, so I tend to wear either tailored jeans or joggers. I am going to be taking a work break beginning next month so I have to decide what I am going to be wearing for the school drop off in the mornings. The idea is to come back home and workout, but I am not sure I feel like being in my wild printed leggings in the line.

In the summer, I swear by the Athleta skorts. I like shorts, don't get me wrong, but the length is tricky and then with flat shoes, I feel frumpy. So, I instead wear the skorts and usually leather sandals. I feel instantly 1000 times like I've stepped up my game.

I feel like I am getting my working mom groove back! After the holidays I scored a bunch of dresses at BR and Ann Taylor on sale and found black pants that actually fit well at Macy's. I started wearing stockings with Spanx built in called Assets, Target has them. I'm in love. Oh and I found a really cute pump. The heel is higher than I usually wear, but the shoe is still comfy. When I look good at work, I feel 1000% better.

At home, I like my very simple mom style except for my shoes. I need more shoes! There is one look I milked this Fall through Winter that actually looked like I was on trend. Thankfully, I was able to change that up with two pants and about 3-4 tops rotated and one cool pair of boots. So mini capsule?!

Winter style, yes. I wear a lot of skinny or straight leg jeans, boots, comfy but well fitting sweaters and long sleeve tops, scarves, and cute, fitted jackets. Summer style I'm still working on. I used to wear a lot of dresses and cute tank tops with skirts and shorts. Most of my tank tops and dresses are not super practical for chasing after a toddler. I'm pregnant with our second and due to September, so this summer will be another one lacking in style.

I have a handful of outfits I feel good in- skinny jeans and a loose long sweater or cardigan with boots, or athletic leggings with a long sweater or hoodie and boots (it's winter in New England, snow boots every day!). And I got a couple of flannel shirts that feel stylish enough. I can actually do a very quick bit of makeup that makes me look just tired instead of utterly exhausted, so that's something. But my hair is a complete mess. I'm a year post partum and have these 1.5 inch long pieces that grew back all over my head. And they are just a little wavy so will not lay flat whatever I do, and are too short to be braided into a style or something.

I wan to get a pair of jeans I really like but I am waiting until the baby weans since I have a feeling it will affect my weight.

I can also never underestimate the impact of a well-fitting dress. I always get compliments, but all I had to do was throw one piece of clothing on!

@shellio: At around 3 months postpartum I looked in the mirror and wondered when I got punched in the eye. Alarming for two reasons: thats how dark it was under my eyes and two: it was totally plausible to me that I got punched in the eye and didn't remember it.

My mom style is basically skinny jeans and sweaters. It's boring but easy. I have to go back to work in a few weeks though and I'm trying to figure out my work style right now. I've been off for a year and was in maternity clothes for six months before that and even then I was feeling like I needed to step it up a little - I'm in a lot of meetings with senior management and I think I need to look a bit nicer. So I'm in the process of going through what I have and seeing where the gaps are.

I'm getting there. I've finally figured out a skin care routine that leaves me feeling confident enough to not wear makeup. If I look particularly tired and am going somewhere other than preschool pick up I might put on some tinted moisturizer, blush, and mascara. My hair is a disaster but I'm 6 months postpartum, so I'm not going to bother dealing with it until the shedding stops. Then my plan is to lighten it up with some highlights (its getting darker and darker as I age).

I work one day a week, but otherwise am at home. I basically wear athletic leggings or jeans, and then loose, comfy tops. I have three turtleneck-style, slightly structured sweatshirts, and a couple knit tunics from gap. Honestly work isn't much different because I can dress pretty casually- nicer jeans, maybe a wool skirt sometimes.

I wear converse, leather booties, or- most often around here: giant bogs that aren't stylish but are warm and awesome for deep snow or mud or slush or whatever.

Summer will be a challenge for me- I still haven't figured out what I'm comfortable in when its hot out. I need to find some shorts that I like. Maybe a pair of loose linen trouser legged pants?

I've been feeling pretty confident about my style lately, which is kind of hilarious because I've literally worn the same fleece leggings and turtlenecked sweatshirt for the past two days. I guess its more about feeling comfortable and confident in myself.

Do you feel like you have your "mom style" figured out?

I sort of do. I can do my hair and full face of makeup in 15 minutes. Since that's important to me it's not a huge time sacrifice to make. For the very first time in my whole life, I had a "winter" style I really really loved and felt super confident in. But of course that would be the year we barely have winter. I don't know if I have my summer style ironed out. I really love dresses but they just aren't practical for playing with kids. I still have yet to find shorts I really love yet. Secondly, what are you loving/wearing/pining for/aspiring to?
