I grew up spending tons of time with them and several said they felt like they were getting a grandbaby because of how close we are. No need to invite casual friends and family. Sounds like your mom just wants your shower to be extra special by having lots of people attend. I just had a small shower, but it was fine, cause like you, we have no problem getting what we need for our baby. I would think it was weird to get a shower invite from someone I haven't heard from in years. It seems so rude to send an invite to a baby shower to someone you haven't talked to in years. She keeps saying there won't be many people there.</p> <p>My family is very small and my in-laws are across thd country. I didn't keep in touch with many people from high school, just 4 girls I was really close to. I moved 3 hours away to go to college and my college friends are pretty far flung now (I graduated 3 years ago). I don't mind a small shower at all, but my mom keeps commenting about it!</p> <p>ETA: DH and I can absolutely afford to buy everything we need so it's not like she's concerned that we won't have what we need. </p>
