Our local library does all sorts of fun sensory activities for infants. They are super messy, but LO always has fun and I think it would be good outdoor fun for the summer. So far we've played with instant mashed potato flakes and basil seeds soaked in water.

LO really liked the baby pool when we visited her grandparents.

My LO is 9.5 months now and I always feel like I struggle to think of things to do with her! Here are some things we have done in the last few weeks:

Bubbles! I bought a cheap pot of bubbles and blow them at her! She's mezmorised and sometimes tries to catch them. We do it in the bath but once it's nice outside we will do it outside.

Finger and foot painting! I make edible finger paints (corn flour, water and gel food colouring - loads of recipies online) and she loves feeling the strange texture (and eating the paint, paper, paint brush....)

Playing with spaghetti! Cook up some spaghetti and let it cool. Put a few drops of vegetable oil through it to make it a bit slimy and let your LO play with it. E loves the slimy texture (and she eats a bit, too, Haha)! This is a definite outdoor game because it's so messy (or you can do it indoors in an empty paddling pool).

Teddybears Picnic! Lay a blanket out on the lawn or in the park and eat food together with some of LO's toys.

Also - E just loves picking (and trying to eat) grass! I take her socks off and let her feel the grass between her toes!

We're planning to go to the farmers market, the library, the park. I think I will make a water table/ water station in the back yard. @cmomma17: ahaha that's awesome! Pet store for sure, I need to try that!

When my LO was 8 months old he could be entertained by going just about anywhere new!
A big hit was the local pet store to check out animals and all the cool dog toys ;) haha We call it the free zoo!

you can buy a wadding pool, or take swim classes with your LO. We did a lot of walks and swung on swings. I had a lot of friends who did music classes with their LO

I am looking for some summer activities to do with my infant. He's currently 8mo, and won't turn 1yo until September. Unfortunately, there's not a lot to do around town for an infant, especially in the summer, since it's more for older children (over 2). We have a zoo, and I hope I can go there occasionally, it's just a 30 minute drive (as is most things) so it's not something I'd do regularly. That's the cheapest things we have around. We have the Museum of Play by us, but that's expensive (although I have heard people who work in schools can get in free). I can go to the library in town, but they have very few things for infants.

What are some things that you've done with your baby under 1yo? Backyard suggestions, going places (cheap or free is ideal) or any other suggestions are welcomed.
