@Mrsk: I think what you have is perfect! Not too much so people won't feel guilty if they have to run, but perfect to fill them up and nothing you have to do tomorrow.

Thanks everyone! I'm really excited and hope that they come over. I can see some
Moms saying they are tired or need to run home so their babes can nap etc! I have two quiches in the oven and mini pumpkin muffins made. Will cut up some fruit in the morning. I went with what I had in the house so I didn't have to run to the store! I'm hoping next time I can make it more of a plan to have lunch together! Thanks for all your advice! I'll keep all your ideas in mind and plan for it! Thanks!

How nice to have a group of women like this! I'd be starving by the end of this walk, and since it's nearing lunch time, I'd probably appreciate something more hearty like bagels! But for the first time probably keep it light since maybe people planned to just sit and chat for a lil bit then head out for lunch plans. Then next time you can expand it into an actual lunch thing.

Fun!! When it's my turn to host baby group I usually make coffee cake, fruit bowl and fresh squeezed OJ. If it was around lunch time I would probably add a bacon quiche in also.

I LOVE brunchy time because recipes are so easy and many are "make ahead". My go to is:

-Egg Sausage Casserole Bake (prepped night before - bakes for 1 hour pre-serving)
-Coffee Cake (taste great when made a day early)
-Cut Up fruit

With kids aged 2-5 months I'd have no food prepped for them - most are just starting solids I'd think!

If you arent down for the "breakfast" style mentioned above you could always do a soup and a big salad. As others have said soup re-heats nicely in a crock pot and a salad as simple as mixed greens, red onion, blue cheese and pine nuts with some vinegrette will present nicely. Our local grocery store has these "take and bake" baguettes...I'd put one or two in the oven with salad and soup for a home run!

No matter what you do the moms will love it...

That sounds super fun!

I would do:
Bagels and different spreads
Muffins
Fruit
Coffee
Lemon water

And some kid options if it's not just babies! Have fun :)

-Lox & bagels with all the fun toppings you can prep & put in fridge until after your walk

-Quiche (I love the cowboy quiche Pioneer Woman makes, but it's alot of prep with all the bacon and mushrooms, so a simple pre-diced ham & cheese one would work too)

-Smaller muffins- blue berries, apple bran, zucchini

- Mixed green salad with vinaigrette (Cheesecake Factory knock off- so simple I don't think they even add onions or tomatoes, but delish)

- Coffee, mimosas

11:30 is lunchtime for me so I'd do something like potato soup in the crock pot...people can eat if they want...it will stay warm if they have to nurse babies first and it would freeze well if no one eats it. I would think at that time I wouldn't be expecting a meal, but it would be a nice surprise :)

I think I'd do something like pinwheel sandwiches or something brunchy like an egg bake. A super easy option would be bagels, cream cheese, cold cuts and cheese. Nothing hard to make and something that you can eat later if people don't eat it

if it's lunchtime, i think some 'real food' would behoove you! maybe a pan of mac n cheese for kids and some crockpot pulled chicken sandwiches and a bag of chips? It's super easy. i wouldn't be able to resist adding cookies

Bagels and cream cheese are always a big hit with my mom's groups but I would bet muffins would work too! Quiche is a good make ahead option if you want something more substantial.

Have fun!

That's so nice of you!

I think since it's the first time, I'd just do coffee/tea and maybe some muffins/pastries. I'd see how it goes and if all goes well, suggest it again as a lunch get-together for the next one.

Some moms (maybe 5 or 6 women) that I met at a baby group are all planning to join a mom and baby walking group. We are going on our first walk tomorrow morning from 10-11:30am. The location where we are walking is on the same street as me. I offered for them to come over after our walk to warm up from the cold, have coffee and hang out for a bit. We all have young babies, from 2-5 months.

My question is, what kind of food, snacks, drinks would you have?

We would be hanging out around lunch time. I'm wondering if I should have something more than just coffee/tea and maybe some muffins. I love to entertain and have people over. It's really nice to finally have a group of other moms to hang out with and I'm hoping this is the start of some friendships that will last a while. I want to make sure people enjoy themselves, but don't want to seem like I'm trying too hard? Do you know what I mean?

Bonus points if it's something I can make ahead tonight or put in the slow cooker.
