@Mrs. Deer: We put him to bed WAY earlier, like he was asleep in bed by 6 PM. But his actual quality of night sleep stayed the same, and has more or less since 9 months old.

@scg00387: that's what I'm hoping! During that transition period did nighttime sleep suffer?

@Mrs. Deer: I would for sure try one nap. While my LO's naps weren't that bad/short, he transitioned at 11 months and naps way better now. Be forewarned, he experienced a transition period of a short one nap and I thought I was SOL until he dropped it all together, but after 2 weeks it lengthened naturally as it got a little later.

@MamaCate: yeah, definitely agree that some just seem to need less sleep. She always wakes up crying though, and those days she makes it past 30 minutes she wakes up happy and giggling :bummed: only so much I can do though! Sorry naps are ending for you early! Glad she at least has some quiet time, great idea.

@Mrs. Deer: My LO took 30 minute naps at daycare and 45 minute naps at home for the entire first year of her life. it was so stressful but she didn't seem overtired or unduly cranky so i just tried to go with it. Once she hit 12 months, we switched to one nap (since daycare did) and we got into a nice pattern where she slept 1-2 hours for us and school in the afternoon.

However, by 2 she had stopped napping consistently at home all together. She has gotten back into a decent pattern at school but I would say she naps less than 50% of the time at home. She is now 27 months. I honestly think some people just need less sleep than others! She still has "quiet time" in her room for at least an hour on the weekends when she does not nap.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: holy cow! That's where I see us going. Was it hard going down to only one short nap?

@Baby Boy Mom: I will keep hoping! That sounds wonderful.

@autumnlove: wow! Gosh that would be so nice

My LO was a cat napper until she was 14.5 months. She started taking naps (2-3 hours)with the other kids at daycare and we followed the same schedule at home.

My first LO was like this. When we moved to one nap at around 14 months he extended to an hour. When he turned 2 he extended to 1.5-2 hours! There is hope!

My LO has always been a catnapper and now (four weeks until her 2nd birthday), she takes one 30-40 minute nap a day.

Did your LO ever outgrow it? L's been taking 30 minute naps since she was 6 months old (prior to that they were glorious). She's now 15 months old and taking two 30 minute naps a day. Sometimes when the stars align she'll go back to sleep for another 30 minute cycle for her afternoon nap. Lately I'm feeling like we need to move to one nap (she's fighting them, crying for up to an hour until I hold her), but I just don't see how it will ever be possible with these short naps.

Anybody have experience with this or advice? I so appreciate it!
