@Andrea: he stays in his room and plays by himself for an hour. Maybe 40% of the time he falls asleep. Today he did and I woke him up after 2 hours, but he will sleep 3+ if we let him. It interferes with his night sleep though so I don't like letting him nap that long.

If we give him something new or fun to play with (play doh for instance, he is good up to an hour. I don't want to move quiet time earlier (around 2) because he still falls asleep half the time and if its too early, he won't sleep. I vastly prefer that he nap because he doesn't go down earlier at night when he doesn't because he's overtired.

My LO is much younger than Olive (13 months) and we transitioned him to 1 nap at 12 months. Like others, the length of his nap really depends on how much he sleeps at night. If he sleeps 12.5-13 hours (which is more often than not since we transitioned) we only get a 1-1.5 hour nap. In the past month he's taken a 2+ hour nap maybe 5 times. I'd so much rather him get more sleep at night though than transfer that sleep to daytime; but everything I've read says that's what will eventually happen.

LO's nap is normally 1.5 hours. If we're super lucky or she's had a wild morning, we'll get 2 hours. If God has mercy on us, she'll sleep for 2.5-3 hours. This has only happened 4 times.

@Mrs. Bee: off topic, but I am wondering what you do for Charlie's quiet time and how long is it?

M keeps trying to drop her morning nap, but she's not lengthening the afternoon, so she's miserable by 6:30... And now Lala is trying to drop her afternoon nap, so no rest for a weary mama.

@Mrs. Bee: like @Mrs. Yoyo said it depends on overnight sleep. When we were traveling she had a later bedtime but woke up pretty much the same time and so she napped 3+ hours...so her total number of hours of sleep stayed pretty consistent at 14.5 hrs. Now that we're back home she sleeps 12hrs at night and usually 2-2.5 hrs for her one nap. My friends with babies on one nap also have their kids sleeping 14hrs total per day but some
have less night time sleep and longer naps.

Yes, but the three-hour nap is still a rare beast! It usually only happens when he's done his marathon training/Tough Mudder practice in the morning. (Kidding...kind of.)

It really depends in his overnight sleep. If he gets a solid 11-12 hours, nap is only 1.5-2 hours. When he wakes up early or really gets run ragged in the morning, sometimes he'll go 3.

Yes, she started out with 1 1/2 hour nap and she has gone to two hours. Very rarely she'll go for 3 hours.

Yes. When she jest started on one nap it was about an 1-1.5 hours but now she's 2-2.5 hours. She's not a big sleeper though. Maybe 8-10 hours at night and a 2 hour nap.

Did their naps lengthen over time?

Charlie was a 3+ hour napper from the beginning of the transition to one nap. Olive takes a 2 hour nap, but a 3 hour nap would make such a difference in my life because she wakes up now just as Charlie is going down for quiet time, so they're not on the same schedule.

Did your LOs 1 nap lengthen over time?
