With my first I had my water break before any contractions, and then was fully dilated in 8 hours (but then had 4 hours of pushing). With #2, I thought I had bad gas (!!!), but was at first noticeable contraction to baby born in 2.5 hours. First contraction was pretty strong, and right away they came every 4-5 mins.</p> <p>And yes, labor is usually much faster the second time around. My first was 20 hrs and my second was just 6 hours start to finish. With my son, I got them periodically but not enough for me to really notice. But with DD, I had them all the time before I went into real labor. With DS, I had false labor every night for about 2 weeks before I finally went into "real" labor.
