I'm obviously late to the party on this one....we have twins from IVF. We put in two embryos so the chances were pretty high. Good luck!

@CupQuakeWalk: I think there are phases where you think twins are nearly impossible, like the first 3 month and probably other phases along the way, but I honestly think it's just the eat thing ever,! Yeah, it's twice the work, cost, etc, but you get twice the gummy grins, twice the giggles, twice the hugs, etc. I was seriously terrified my whole pregnancy of parenting twins, but I shouldn't have been. All that to say, if you do end up with twins, just know that most twin parents thinks the good far, far outweighs the bad!

@Mrs. Blue: I actually toy with the idea of twins with fondness sometimes :) But, my OB has twins (they're like 10 now) and she said "I wouldn't wish twins on anyone". I was like WHAT?!? She didn't mean it in a bad way I guess; she just meant it was tough? But anyway, she was on Clomid.

@CupQuakeWalk: I had a good chance of twins last cycle.

We had a 20% chance of twins with clomid and there were two cycles that I had 2 follicles. The cycle I got pregnant both eggs released, but we are having a singleton.

I was told cycles would be cancelled if we had more than 2 follicles.

We did IVF (1st round failed...second round was FET, which was our sticky one). We were given a 40% chance of multiples with 1 embryo placed, and we had a BFN with that round. We were given a 60% chance with two, and we went ahead and took that gamble for our FET. That gave us our twins :-) GL!

@CupQuakeWalk: I'm having twins and we went through IVF. We chose to transfer two embryos, so we knew that our odds increased a lot, of course. I agree that monitoring while on Clomid will give you a more accurate picture of whether multiples are likely. I only did monitoring on my last cycle of Clomid (50mg) because I started with an Re after already taking Clomid (prescribed by OB) that cycle. It turns out I ovulated 4 eggs that month, so it's probably a good thing it didn't work out for us then, haha. (I have suspected endo, fwiw). Good luck this cycle!

@littlek: no but my doc called in the prescription. I'm kind of pissed bc all the back and forth with the nurse (she couldn't understand that I had a whacked out 15 day cycle and kept rechecking my chart)...anyway it was a few days too late to start this cycle (he wants me to start taking it CD 5). So I'll start next cycle

Agree with spaniellove that if you're being monitored they can give you more accurate odds depending on your number of mature follicles. You could also consider Femara (Letrozole) which is another oral med but with a lower multiples risk.

No multiples here, but I just wanted to ask if you're getting monitoring with the Clomid? If you feel strongly about not having multiples you should make sure your dr knows so your dosage can be adjusted to the point that you're not producing multiple follicles or can at least get some sense of what is going on...like whether you're working with 2 follicles or 5!

Did you have any fertility intervention? If so, what was it? Clomid? What dose? Ivf?
My ob's words, "10% chance of multiples on Clomid cycles.." are in my head and freaking me out.
Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE twins all the same, but ideally just one will be plenty ;)
