I won't make much money after paying our nanny and both school tuitions. However, i am staying in my career and contributing to my 401k. And it's really only one year of hurt as my oldest will be in public K when the baby turns 1. That will free up around 1000 a month! Also the nanny does laundry and housework and it gives me the flexibility of being able to attend a doctors appt, etc without kids in tow. I would have a whopping $25 to take home after daycare. I will definitely be quitting my job if I got pregnant. Things are crazy enough right now with two kids, I can't imagine adding another to it AND not take home any money at the end of the day. That's just not something that can work for my family.</p> <p>ETA: at that point it *'might* be cheaper to go with a nanny if I still wanted to or needed to work. I'll be going back to work when LO3 is about 4.5 months old. My kids attend a large daycare center affiliated with DH's work. We get the kids ready together, he does drop off, and we pick up together. Tuition is a lot, especially since my 3 are 3 and under, but I do make out with some $ at the end of it and our family's health/vision/dental insurance plan is better through my job than DH's. I'm considered full-time but my actual in-office hours have been reduced (from 40 to about 30) since my boss offered me telecommuting hours (basically checking email). I plan to go back to work full time outside of the home when my LO is 3 weeks old. They will all be in full time daycare. We have a 30 hour a week nanny. The boys will be in school next year - one 5 days in junior k and the other 3 days in a toddler program. The nanny will work some of her hours when the boys are in school and she'll do a lot of the house work. I work part time, some from home. My husband leaves for work at 6:30 and it not around to help get the kids up and out in the morning.
