@ShayNanigans: congrats!!! Carrying twins was rough on my body and I my boys did have twin to twin transfusion so I was super high risk. But I had my c section at 37 weeks and me and my boys were home in three days. The early days were daunting for me (my older son was 8.5 months when my twins were born). There were days that I just broke down in tears. But the memories of those days are completely over shadowed by the awesome days. My twins are almost five and all three boys are going to start kinder soon and I just love looking back at pictures of when they were babies. I really miss it. Kids are the greatest gift I have had in my life and multiples just makes it that much greater.

Congrats! I had a pretty smooth pregnancy and was induced at 38.5 weeks. Early on in my pregnancy I heard 2 pieces of advice that I followed religiously to prevent pre-term labor: drink TONS of water and eat TONS of protein. I don't know how necessary it is, but I did both like it was my job.

Congrats! Having twins is an amazing ride.

We had b/g twins after ivf. Pregnancy was surprisingly uneventful for me. Induced at 39 weeks and change, vaginal birth, no complications, no nicu time, kids were 5.5 and 6.5 lbs. Newborn time was nuts, and breastfeeding was hard for me, but hubby took 6 weeks off work and that made a huge difference. Every few months it gets substantially easier. Once they sleep better will make an enormous improvement in your quality of life, but for us that wasn't until 10 months. And once they can talk, it was another big jump in ease of care for me.

All in all, the first year was crazy, but after a year you get the huge advantage of having best friend playmates to keep them occupied. At 1.5 yrs old, my twins are so much fun, and I can't imagine our family any other way.

@ShayNanigans: If they are fraternal, than they would be "di-di" twins, which basically just means that they each have their own amniotic sac and their own placenta. That's the least-risk type of twins--yay! :) You'll probably have some additional monitoring, but not as much as you would with mono-di or mono-mono. We had mono-di twins and so they had to monitor more closely for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, which isn't a risk with di-di twins. Okay, all that zygosity stuff out of the way...
Twin pregnancy is . . . tough. I won't lie and say it was easy, even though I had an incredibly uneventful pregnancy. No major scares, no preterm labor, etc. It's just hard on your body, so rest as much as you can, eat well, and give yourself a break! Don't compare your pregnancy to those of people who are pregnant with a singleton. That said, the results are soooooo very worth it. Sure, it's twice the work, twice the diapers, etc. but it's twice the first smiles, twice the hugs, twice the slobbery kisses. Watching my boys interact is seriously the best thing on earth. I was not as lucky as @sunshineandsushi: in the sleep department, but we did survive and they do sleep through the night now! :-) I loved the first few months, especially because it was before I went back to work, so I just got to hang out with them all day long. Yes, it was exhausting, but I treasure those early months with them. Honestly, I think every stage is even better than the last one. They change and there are new challenges, but each stage brings so many new exciting moments, milestones, glimpses of their personalities, etc. X 2! I was pretty scared during my pregnancy that I wouldn't be able to handle parenting two, that they wouldn't each get the time they needed, etc., but even on rough days, I wouldn't trade my twinsies for anything in the world. It's so fun.
If you have any specific questions, concerns, etc., I speak form experience when I say there are some great twin moms on HB who are happy to answer questions. They certainly helped me through pregnancy & the first year. Welcome to the club, mama!

Congratulations! So exciting! I mean this in the most non-creepy way of course, but, I've been a lurker in the IVF thread and was awaiting your ultrasound news today. To be completely honest, being pregnant with (fraternal) twins was pretty difficult for me. I can detail you my experiences if you'd like. Otherwise, I'll spare you my tale of woe. I hate to say it; the newborn stage (first two months or so) was complete hell for us. Sleep was pretty much non-existent and we were beyond exhausted. I had honestly never been more exhausted in my entire life. Things drastically improved around 3 months and have continued to do so (*knock on wood* they're almost 5mo now). The best advice I can give is to take it easy and accept any and all the help you can get both during pregnancy and after they're here. Also, do as much as you can (nursery, baby errands, showers, etc) earlier in your pregnancy, I was pretty much worthless towards the end. If you have any questions, etc, definitely feel free to ask! Congratulations again!

Oh honey I am so excited for you!!! My twins are still on the inside and hopefully will be for a while longer, but I'm here if you need anyone to chat with about twin pregnancy things. Up until Friday I was a real champion at the twin pregnancy thing. :) I obviously can't personally compare a twin pregnancy to a singleton, but I have not had too bad of a time so far. Start hydrating and eating your protein now! And be prepared that you will be exhausted beyond belief. Probably the whole time. I maybe got 1-2 weeks of that feel good energy of the 2nd tri that people talk about. I hope things go as well for you and your babes as it has for me so far! Sending you love!

Congratulations!!!! I don't have twins, but my husband is a twin. His parents loved it. They say there are definitely some struggles, but there are struggles with only one baby, too. You just muscle through it and it is so rewarding. They would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

@Mrs. Blue: I think they would be fraternal? Not totally sure. We did IVF, and put in two. They did not split, but were two separate embryos from the get-go. That would definitely make them fraternal, I think??

So exciting! Congratulations!! My sister is a mom of twins and she had a pretty normal pregnancy, aside from the additional monitoring. She developed carpal tunnel in the third tri but it resolved shortly after she had them. She made it to 36w5d and they were 6lb2oz and 7lb1oz!
