@SweetiePie: still have this superstitious fear that every time I say it out loud I'm going to get my ass kicked again that night  but it's going much better, yes!

@Pumpkin Pie: Hi, sorry I forgot to reply! That thread you are referring to saved me. The thing we did that was really helpful was at 5 weeks we simultaneously moved him from the RNP to his crib for naps and nighttime, and we started "bedtime" routine (which felt like a joke to me at the time since he was up 24 hours a day--but it REALLY helped).

So no matter what happened during the day, at 6:30pm we'd start bedtime, and he was asleep in his crib by 7:30pm. Within 3 or 4 days, he went from sleeping 2.5/hrs at a time to sleeping like 6/7 hours in the first block after bedtime, it was amazing. (My baby is *not* a unicorn sleeper.) I was still getting up once or twice at night to do feedings, but think about it this way: that first block of sleep after bedtime is the longest they will sleep in a 24-hour period, and that is the block of time that will stretch out to eventually become your baby STTN.

For us it got much better at 6 weeks (after a week of doing this) and then from weeks 8-15 it was really good, I was only getting up once at 4am, which was totally fine. Then the 4 month sleep regression hit + holiday schedule fubar, and I was suddenly up 3x a night again. So that was when we did full extinction and night weaning, which SUCKED COMPLETELY, but he's now going 12 hours :)

Here is our bedtime routine:
turn down all the lights low
put on soft classical music
start heating up water for the big tank up bottle
baby bath
lotion and massage
clean jammies
nurse *and* give a huge bottle (basically you want to ply them with milk--this is the most important step, give more than the baby will eat)
swaddle/sleep sack
walk upright/burp for a few minutes
put down drowsy but awake

Good luck! let me know how it's going.

@Pumpkin Pie: hmm I'm tempted to get the app since it's only $0.99... If I do I'll screen shot everything for you!

I'm hesitant to follow any of these schedules bc A) We just did EASY with DD1 and while she didn't STTN till 6-7 months, it wasn't horrible... I kinda wanted MOTN feeds to help with my supply. And B) I'm afraid I just can't keep DD2 on a schedule bc life is so crazy with DD1 already that night time is really the only thing I can control...

I also bed shared with DD1 and currently DD2 also just sleeps next to me (DH is in DD1's room), and now they recommend to have baby in your room for the first 6 mo anyway...?

Let me know what you end up trying!

I followed that 4-8 week schedule and it helped get my DS to totally STTN by the time he was 10 weeks or so. The book doesn't say much other than the schedules. It also explains that in order to eliminate MOTN feedings, try to keep pushing later and later and eventually the baby will drop the feeding. That's what happened to us. I think it is geared more towards FF babies (which mine is). He is 16 weeks now and we feed at 7, 10, 1, 4, and 7:30. Each bottle is 6-8 oz -- he's a huge eater.

Thank you! @Jess1483: @lioneyes: I tried looking for the app but couldn't find it. Maybe it's only for iphones?

@lioneyes: DD2 is 5 weeks and over 10lbs. Did you like the book 12 hours by 12 weeks? I was also looking for that, but they don't have that at the library either!

Don't have the book but I took a screenshot from a post on another forum that I found through googling--this is the next stage after your boo gets to be 8 weeks, so you have something to look forward to

i think they have an app? i found it helpful for the week by week what to expect. i was more of a devotee of "12 hours by 12 weeks" and fwiw, they say that babies eat every 3-4 hours at night until they are eating 24 oz+/day or are 9 lbs., but maybe try to stretch feeding times during the day to 3.5-4 hour increments.

I have the app. For 4-8 weeks, basic tips say: bottle contains 4 or more ounces of bm or formula unless otherwise noted.

Between 6&7: feed
7:30 nap
9:00 feed
9:30 play
10:00 nap
12:00 feed
12:30 play
1:00 nap
3:00 feed
4:00 nap
5:30 feed
6:00 play
6:30 nap
8:00 bath
8:30 feed
9:00 Bedtime
Feed between 2 &3 a.m.

I was definitely not down to one feed at night at this age, but I liked using the schedule the best I could and adjusting where necessary.

Does anyone have the moms on call book? I heard about here, and as able to borrow it from our library a couple years ago for DD1, but it seems they don't have it anymore.

I'm looking for the schedule and basic tips the book provided. DD2 is all over the place right now and I want to start thinking about a routine.

I think I remember the book saying something like at 6 weeks, the baby should be able to have a long stretch of sleep, but I'm still feeding about 3x/middle of the night.

Does anyone have the book and would be able to post the schedule and general advice?
