I first took him to the ocean when he was 4 months old and we visited family in NY - I was still 30 lbs over pre-pg weight and definitely don't like the pictures of that day - but I got to experience his first ocean visit and those memories are priceless. And my kid is a fish - we are at the beach and pool multiple times a week - I can't miss it! I think the first swimsuit she actually purchased was after I started college. And it was because we were shopping together and I was able to show her the tummy-control suits and cute coverups. I don't think she's ever worn it though!!</p> <p>I'm like a fish, always have been since I was a kid, so even though I'm super self-conscious I always put on a suit and go in. Many times I'm the only woman in the pool (even the only mom!) but I don't care. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how un-self conscious I was at the pool when we went to Disney. I was so focused on having fun with G that it just didn't matter. I'm hopeful that continues, because it was really nice to just focus on something other than how I looked for once! </p> <p>I also remember my mom telling me about a family friend, who 'didn't have the greatest body, but was always willing to put on a swim suit and have fun with the kids.'
