I don't have a good answer because I just don't go anywhere without her for more than an hour or so. My husband and I are leaving her with my sister next week to go out to dinner and here's hoping that she'll take a bottle for her!!

My LO only took a bottle rarely after 6 months and pretty much never after 8 months. But she didn't need it. I'd be gone 8 or so hours teaching and I'd leave milk but she wouldn't drink it even out of a cup. By that age she got by enough on juice or water and other foods for the time I was gone. She was anxious to nurse when I got back though.

I am so glad to be at 6 months now and baby eating food, because I literally had nightmares about being separated from him and him freaking out because of not being able to nurse. Now that he can eat, I'm less worried.

But I certainly have no answer to this question. I plan to play around with some sippy cups with water and see if he'll use those to drink. (The first one I tried was too hard for him, but my friend has one I want to try, it's like a sippy-bottle crossover, by Nuby. High hopes for it.)

Now that my youngest is almost 7 months he is eating every 4-5 hours now so I can leave him for longer periods. Or if I am out I just nurse him wherever I'm at. I've gotten comfortable nursing almost anywhere now. I just have to plan on wearing a nursing tank with some kind of low v-neck cardigan over so all I do is unclip the tank. Makes a world of a difference than to be fussing with a shirt and a nursing bra and worrying someone is going to see my side fat.

I never left my LO for more than 2.5-3 hours and even that was rare. The was probably one of the hardest things on my when I was breastfeeding and I so wished my LO would just take a bottle. When he was close to 1 we started introducing a straw sippy cup and he really liked it. So, little by little he drank more and more cow's milk from that. Eventually, I had him down to just a before bed and at wake up feeding. He weaned himself off the morning, and we finally stopped the night time feeding by 14 months. It has been so nice to have full freedom these past 4 months!

Mine has not since she was 5 days old in the NICU. As she started eating more solids, I've been able to leave her longer and longer. at 11 months I was able to leave her all day with my husband, and she was just fine. Have you tried leaving yours? If they're eating a good amount of solids, breastfeeding may be more of a 'want' than a 'need' at this point. I know I couldn't be around her and deny her the boob, but she can go a long time without it if I'm not there.

And as to before that point, I just didn't. Saying that out loud makes it sound really confining and awful, but it never felt terrible. I was really never away from her for more than a few hours before about 10 or 11 months.

Can anyone who figures this out please let me know? My DD started refusing all bottles at 6 weeks. She is 4 months old now and just won't take one. I'm going back to work in January when she will be 6.5 months and I'm really worried that she won't be eating:(

My lo was drinking from the breast and a bottle right after she was born. Then I was only giving her bottles at night but she started doing so much better with the breast that I quit bottle feeding because it was finaly easier! Now she refuses the bottle. I do stay home with her but now I'm wondering if I will ever get a chance to go anywhere without her! Should I try and re introduce the bottle? To be honest it's SO nice not having to pump at all! The only thing is is what if something comes up and I can't feed her, then what?

LO is 5 months and won't take a bottle unless its been 6-7 hours since he last ate, and I hate making him go that long. Since he usually eats every 3 hours, I feed him, then leave him with somebody while I run errands, or I wait until he goes to bed at 7pm, then go out.

I was going to say reverse cycling. That's what we do if DD stays with my mom and decides not to eat or if she has a distracted day. I also have a few friends that do this with their babies who are in daycare.

I just had a discussion with a friend last night. DS is EBF now since I am at home with him and has refused to take a bottle of pumped milk at all. I was concerned because I go back to work soon and he will be at daycare. She was telling me another friend had the same problem (and we all have the same pedi) and the doctor said just don't feed her for 24 hours, or she'll take a bottle before then because she'll be so hungry she'll have to eat. Pretty crazy...but I guess it would work when you think about it.

my LO is almost 5 months and does not take a bottle. she does not eat while I am at work, but my shifts are only 5 to 6 hours. She makes up for it when I am home by eaten 8 ounces or more when I walk in the door! She also eats more at night. And other than work, I don't really leave her often. And I am the only person who can put her to bed at night. I have just accepted that!

Olive was sick for 2 weeks, and she has been on a bottle strike. Understandably because she was congested and had an ear infection. But now she is attached to me and no one else can put her down for the night except for me.

She's turning 1 on Friday so even if she never takes a bottle again, that's not the end of the world. But it also means she is becoming more dependent on nursing when I want her to become less dependent as the months go on!

If your baby never took a bottle, how in the world did you ever leave them? And how did you wean them? Did they take a sippy cup?

Olive does take a straw cup. At this point she's not getting much milk in the daytime since she is refusing the bottle. I think she's making up for it by waking up more at night!
