@newlypregnantlady: melaleuca is the same as tea tree....it wont hurt dry skin. I have ridiculously dry skin and its very helpful!!! :) Have you ever tried doing like an oil treatment on your scalp? Might help too...just FCO with some oils mixed in. Rub it in and let it set than rinse it out! :)

@Mrs D: thanks! I have some serious scalp issues but my actual hair is fairly okay. I have trouble finding something that moisturizes my scalp. I seriously have the driest skin ever.

@T.H.O.U.: I love tea tree! I’ll have to go see if I can dig some up. Although I have very dry skin so idk if that would make things worse? I’m pretty sure I’ve got some laying around, I’ll have to try it!

@newlypregnantlady: So I'm pretty sure melaleuca is what is helping with my scalp the most. I also use Rosemary for growth and thickness. Then I put Lavender & Peppermint in also. I do about 10 drops each of melaleuca & rosemary, and maybe only 5 drops of lavender and peppermint...

@T.H.O.U.: No other major allergies that I am aware of. She is an actual friend of mine, we have a common friend who is the Monat consultant, she is closer to her so she took bought to support her. She was pleased with the "quality" of her hair but then noticed some patches. She's stopped obviously.

@newlypregnantlady: I’ve heard adding Tea Tree Oil is great to prevent lice! In general TTO is good for skin

@Mrs D: wow. That’s crazy. Is it someone you know personally? Do they have other allergies? The only thing I’ve heard is there is a tomato oil used and if you have a tomato allergy you may be allergic.

So far I would say my shedding has reduced.

@T.H.O.U.: I ended up ordering Innersense. I also heard that people or maybe it was one review of people losing their hair with Monat plus I had a coupon code for Innersense. I absolutely love it. It’s not full of chemicals and has dramatically decreased my dry, itchy scalp.

Old thread but wanted to add that I have had good luck adding essential oils to over the counter shampoos to help with my scalp!!! :)

My girlfriend ended up losing some of her hair after using Monat...its the only "review" I've heard and obviously is a bad one - likely an isolated incident. Since I've had luck adding oils to my normal shampoo I've never pursued it further...

I finally bit the Monat bug last month. Over the past few months I saw my friends hair that was bleached and dried out turn baby soft again. It was soft because her hair was healthy again, not because she had a ton of product on it. I have only been using the products for about a month, but I'm already seeing results from less build up on my hair. I'm just using the Volume line because I tend to get oily on my roots.

@Canoli: I started with the volume line and now I’m using the intensive repair shampoo/conditioner. I think I preferred the volume shampoo, but the intensive repair smells better ha. I also use their leave in conditioner, masque, hair spray, dry shampoo, rejuvabeads, and blow dry cream (not all of these every day. I have slowly been accumulating products since May and have yet to purchase any replacements, besides just opening my new shampoo/conditioner). My mom uses the rejuvinique oil and really likes it but it’s sooooo expensive. They have a 30 day money back guarantee but honestly I didn’t notice a huge different until I had used it a couple months. Just an FYI.

@bees_knees: thanks. I also have short hair so I only need a dime size amount. I don't mind spending the money on it if I know it's worth it! Which line do you use?

I use Monat...I started off as a skeptic but I LOVE it. My hair looks so much more healthy, less frizzy, easier to style, plus lots of quick and new growth! I don’t have your hair type, so I can’t comment on that. One set of shampoo/conditioner lasts me over 3 months (washing every other day or so), so while it’s expensive, I’m able to justify it by “price per wash” :silly:

I'm curious if anyone has tried either one of these brands for haircare. I've gotten recommendations for both and before I pull the pricey trigger I want to see if anyone has experience.

I have very fine hair and I have dermatitis on my scalp and I have a prescription ointment I use but I'm looking to do something more natural. I've tried several different shampoos and conditioners but nothing stops the itch!
