My daughter just hated it, otherwise I'd have used it for longer. She slept in a bassinet until 6 months, then a crib until 8, then a floorbed since then. I don't think a floor bed from birth is an absolute necessity and wasn't practical in our last house... We only just transitioned him out of his crib to a bed this weekend (he never once tried to climb out).
