We saw my FIL yesterday and he's doing rather well. He was telling me that his last treatment docs gave him a 7% chance of getting through it (which he did) and this time it's 17% chance. So he sees it as positive. </p> <p>But I'm not sure how long he can go on with all this therapy. His heart is bound to give out soon. We had something similar with DH's dad a few years ago - cancer in his kidney and adrenal gland. So far, it seems that they've caught it all, but it definitely makes you realize just how fragile life is.</p> <p>While you're sending FIL lots of pictures of the kids, maybe ask for lots of pictures of him in return (from now and from better, healthier days), that way you will have mementos to share with the kids so they still know who their grandfather was, even after he's gone. Which means he has less than 2 months to live. Right before he hung up the phone with my husband he told him "I Love you" something he has never told his son... ever! </p> <p>I've been balling since. He had asked me for pictures of the kids a couple of days ago, and he told DH "please give me those pictures asap" </p> <p>Marc isn't really showing his emotions so everything seems to be "well it's life, there's nothing we can do" but I know he's heartbroken. </p> <p>So so sad my kids won't grow up to enjoy their grandfather. But I am thankful that he was able to meet them both.
