@Sammyfab: I'm refusing to believe that 10 hours of overnight sleep is enough for my baby. 5 am is just too darn early!!!!! I'm hoping that the 6 am waketime will become more common soon. Ugh.

My LO will wake before 6am sometimes but we don't get him out of bed until 6:30 at the earliest. He used to cry after 10 minutes but now he will roll around and play until we get him. Unfortunately you can't choose when your LO naturally wakes up but you can choose when to officially start his day.

This morning LO woke up at 6:05 and i let her whine until about 6:30...actually, i fell asleep intending to go to her after a few minutes and woke up when she started crying. Whoops!

Sometimes she'll fall back asleep, but usually the reason she'll have woken up early is because of a poopy diaper. I would try letting him whine/fuss/cry for a little bit.

I figured out that if LO wakes up before 6 she will go back to sleep. If it's 6 or after she's up for the day. My goal is to have her waking up at 7. Sometimes I just let her lay in the crib and play until I go in then.

@bree72: I did yesterday when he woke up at 4 due to the time change. I tried to feed him and he wasn't hungry so I let him hang in his crib and he ultimately fell back asleep....at 5:20. So it took him a good hour which made me wonder if he treated that fall back asleep like a nap. On occasion, he will sleep 11 hours but it's very rare for him to sleep 12 hours.

I'm dealing with this for the time change. He's been waking at 5-5:30. I just decided to leave him in his crib as long as he's happy and he fell back asleep. It took him 30 minutes but at least it looks like he's trying to sleep later. Have you tried letting him stay in his crib until he's upset? He always likes to sleep close to. 12 hours at night, so I thought he might still be sleepy even though he sounded like he was awake for the day. It can't hurt to let him hang out for a while and see what happens.

50 percent of the time my son wakes at 5 a.m. for the day (the other 50 percent of the time he gets up at 6). He has a pretty strict 7 pm bedtime and I can't figure what gets him to wake earlier. I can't put him down earlier because of my work schedule. He still gets up once a night for a feeding - it seems that when he gets up closer to 2 he gets up earlier. When he wakes at 3 for his feeding he'll sleep later. When he sleeps straight through he sleeps 7-5 (give or take a few minutes).

He doesn't have a set nap schedule because of his varying wake time....and also he is pretty much a 30 minute napper (with the occasional 45 minute nap or binge nap when he is sick).

He's 5.5 months. He's been doing this almost a month.

Has anyone tried leaving baby in crib until a later wake up time? He wakes up happy and cooing and only grumbles after awhile....or if he hasn't eaten in awhile. I'll feed him and sometimes he doesn't even get drowsy again so there's basically no chance of getting him back to sleep. Am I stuck with this early wake time?
