@gingerbebe: You are so organized, I love it.

We do tv time in the morning. DS watches a show while he eats. Then I let him continue watching by himself (he's 3) while I have a quick shower. Then we both get dressed. Half the time he wants more food, so he eats more while I throw my lunch together and out the door. I used to prep lunches at night when DS had to take one and we left earlier. Right now we leave at 7. DH isn't usually up before we leave unless I need him to bed. I find he just gets in the way.

@macintosh:

Lunch you can prep ahead. For DH for instance I pre pack a weeks worth of sandwiches by making packs. I get a quart size Ziploc and slip in two slices of bread, a piece of lettuce rolled in a paper towel, and a snack size Ziploc packed with cold cuts and pickle slices. If you want cheese, slip it in between the bread slices. This keeps the components separate and he can assemble at lunch. Then you can shove the whole thing in a gallon size Ziploc or a lunch bag with dry snacks, a piece of fruit, baby carrots and a drink or bottle of water and have it all in the fridge the night before. DH keeps a bottle of mustard in his lunch sack and that's lunch!

We do a two step breakfast for DS. He gets milk (I also pre-pour the milk like @sweetiepie:) and a sectioned plate I prep the night before. Usually the plate has some kind of protein and fruit, like cut up breakfast sausage or pieces of a big omelet I make every few days and chop into bite size pieces. The plate gets nuked for 10 seconds and DH or I add some ketchup and fruit. If I'm rushed, the protein is yogurt pouch or tube. He eats that with DH while watching a 15 minute Baby Einstein video on YouTube.

DH gets a simple breakfast like yogurt and granola or cereal. We set up coffee the night before.

Then while DH and DS are eating together, I throw a waffle or cinnamon raisin toast in the toaster and I have time to quickly get ready. In the car, I hand DS a water bottle and his roadie waffle to nibble on for breakfast part 2. This week we have switched it up with Belvita mini bites in a snack catcher, or Life cereal is a hit too.

We keep shoes in both cars and just throw them on when we reach our destination.

I set out everyone's clothes the night before. I shower at night and use dry shampoo and texturizing spray in the morning if I need to look not homeless.

Basically I do everything at night! We have a 2 week old so right now I prep 5 breakfast plates, precut fruit, and have 5 individually portioned dinners for DH in the fridge every week, plus a freezer stash of frozen pancakes and waffles, and cinnamon raisin bread.

Thanks for all the advice! We got DH to his destination a few minutes early, yay!

I set my alarm for 6:30. DS was still sleeping so I got DH up and started coffee and breakfast. DH and I ate, then I woke DS around 7:15. Got him dressed and put him in his high chair to eat in the kitchen with DH. I had time to prep his breakfast before I woke him up, so I just put him in the high chair and left DH in charge while I showered.

DS eats slow, so he finished breakfast while I packed DH's lunch. We were out the door by 8:05 and pulling out of the driveway 5 minutes later. I think with practice I can even sleep in a little later

My DH leaves at or before 6 am. I have two boys - 3.5 and 7 months.

Sleep patterns aren't super consistent so it varies, but the norm is usually both boys waking around 6:30/6:45.... This morning my 3.5 year old came in to wake me at 6:30 and hung out in my bed for a few, then the baby was waking up - so I got him and nursed him in my bed. Then we all headed into the bathroom so I could shower and get dressed.... Older LO gets the iPad, the baby sits in his chair with a couple toys.

Then after I'm dressed I usually put the baby in the bjorn or backpack and wear him around while I make breakfast for everyone, pack lunches, and pack up all the stuff for the day.

Breakfast for me & LO is the same - LO gets mini frozen pancakes, a sausage, and fresh strawberries. I make toast and egg whites and cook the sausage with the egg whites, and then cut myself some strawberries to put on my overnight oats that I eat for lunch. Then I get my older son dressed (I change the babies clothes the night before), LO brushes his teeth and feeds the cat, then we head out the door!

Luckily (or not, ha) everyone is up early so we can get everything done... But I don't leave until 8:30... eating the same thing for breakfast makes things move fast. The iPad, although not a great habit, is used to keep older LO happy while I do everything, and if the baby isn't content playing on the floor, wearing him is key.

@macintosh: aha! I see. Ok so that helps I think!
In that case I would maybe do a light holdover breakfast in the highchair or car (dry cereal and a cup of milk like you said) and give DS a fuller breakfast (yogurt, etc) when you get home.
I think it's ok if one day a week there is a deviation from DS's routine. And I'm a routine STICKLER! But I think one morning is ok.

Did it go okay this morning? Or is it still pending action, lol?

My answer is to get up earlier, but I get it, it's not for everyone. I wake up at 5:30 most days.

@macintosh: You actually can do mini breakfast casseroles (muffin or mini muffin tins) once every few months and just freeze them! Nuke in the morning and good to go. Same with a healthier muffin.
I'm not a cook (I'm not bad, I just hate it) so that's what I do for my LO (more for dinner stuff, but I've done the breakfast casseroles too).

@gingerbebe: is hella organized and has had responses to other threads about how she preps for the next day. Granted, she's not caring for her husband so he helps out, but she still had some good tips that she herself does you may be able to use for yourself. Maybe she can do a copy/paste :-) She has like a 1 week old so she may not be able to reply.

For me, still one LO but 4x a week we both have to be out the door by 9am for a sort of preschool class. I know it's not the same, but some things I do to make it easier:
- I also like to shower in the AM, but I don't always wash my hair. I just can't fit that in all the time. It shaves a lot of time off!
- figure out my outfit the night before
- put together his milk cup and have it in the fridge the night before. When in a hurry I find it annoying to assemble a cup and fill it, for some reason. I did that with his bottles too.
- easy, less messy breakfasts (yogurt pouches, dry Cheerios, frozen waffles, banana, cereal bars). And I don't clean anything up till later. Let it sit!
- I lay out his clothes while he eats so when he's done I can grab him. I even put on his shoes even though I hate for him to wear them in the house. But it's easier to do when I'm dressing him at once than when I'm in the final rush to get out the door and he's refusing to sit still. We don't drive, we use a stroller, but I remember gingerbebe saying that they keep LOs shoes in the car because it's easier to carry him to the car without wrestling on shoes first. I think they put on and take off while he's in the carseat.
- I rely on the TV to help! I was reluctant at first, but while he watches I can put on my makeup and get dressed. And then it's easier to get him to stay still and get dressed while he watches some tv.
- night before I make sure the diaper bag has what it needs. Refill diapers/wipes, change of clothes, snacks, and a water cup.

And again, I have to tell you, you are superwoman.

@lamariniere: I could do breakfast on the go for DH (he would be thrilled with Dunkin Donuts lol) but I'm not sure about the baby. I could put cereal and freeze dried fluid in a snack catcher and put his milk in the Foogo. We'd have to skip the yogurt pouch though.

@youboots: yeah making breakfast casserole sounds like something I might do once a year :silly:

@MamaCate: thanks! Oh man, if I still had to nurse or bottle feed I'd never make it. I love where we are with straw cups (if he would just stop throwing them on the floor).

@macintosh: I am excited for this change for you! But getting out the door in the morning is a pain! I am usually on my own in the morning with 2 LOs and we try to leave by 8. I do as much as I can the night before, get up at 5:45 to shower before they get up. This does include nursing the baby twice and having everyone get dressed, fed, teeth brushed, all stuff ready to go.

I promise it gets easier with repetition! Good luck!

@lamariniere: I may prepack lunch next time, but I'm already laying in bed. Breakfast is just cereal and fruit every day, but DS takes forever to eat (throws a lot of food and cups). I wish I could shower at night, but I just don't feel right unless I shower in the morning. I did set out clothes for tomorrow since I was already folding laundry

I'm thinking I'll fix breakfast for the boys and let DH supervise DS while I shower for 5 minutes. My problem is I have the hardest time waking up in the AM and getting my butt moving. Maybe I'll make the coffee first :silly:

I have no idea where to put this so feel free to move it!

Tomorrow my husband starts a new activity that will get him out of the house and socializing once a week (yay!). However, I have a tight schedule to get him and DS up, dressed and fed before we need to leave at 8 am. I WAH most days so I've honestly never had to have all 3 of us ready this early.

For those of you with more than one kiddo doing the rush around morning before daycare drop off, how do you do it all? I have to pack his lunch, feed him and the baby, and take a shower, all at the same time! Either I'm going to be up at 6 am or I'm going to be late.
