@HappyBaker: We are in the same boat. I returned when baby was 12 weeks and she was 3.

4-5 am - he usually just came to bed to nurse.

Whenever the older one gets up, she usually sits at her table with cartoons and a small breakfast snack (milk or cereal or a banana). Usually between 6 and 6:30

6 am - DH gets up and in the shower
6:15 - I sneak out of bed and leave my phone playing white noise in bed with the baby.
6:45 - we are done getting ready. DH starts to pack bags (backpacks, lunches, pump). I work to get kids ready.
7:15 All of us out the door.

Great advice from @shortcake: We do this! I prep bottles in the evening. I make sure the toddler/preschooler has her backpack ready and near the door. I also make sure she picks out her clothes and they are ready. I get baby's clothes ready as well (and anything extra that needs to go to daycare, more diapers, wipes, clothes, etc).

Particularly for our older, it's important that she have time to do her things, so as much as I can do ahead of time for her, the better. But it's important to not remove all of her control, thus the picking out of her clothes the night before.

The baby is actually easy. I feed her, change her and put her down to play for a few minutes while we fight with our toddler over every single thing possible. My only advice is to do as much as possible as the night before. Get all bottles and food ready to go and pick out thier clothes and do any other prep work you can like coffee pot ready, your clothes picked out, breakfast ready to go, etc. And know some mornings will go well and others will be a shit show but you will eventually get to work.

@HappyBaker: Well, that's better than him already being awake when you're trying to get ready! That's the worst.

I probably don't have great advice since our morning takes a lot longer. But here's our routine:

5:30 - I wake and shower, get partially dressed, and partially do my hair.
6:00 - baby gets up, I bottle feed her, change her diaper/clothes.
6:30 - Preschooler gets up, I help her get dressed, brush teeth and fix her hair.
6:45 - DH gets in the shower, I finish getting ready (fix my hair, brush my teeth and finish dressing).
7:10 - we are getting everything ready - shoes on, bags packed.
7:30 - everyone is in their respective car and we are on our way.

I drop the girls off at daycare and then head to work, DH has a longer commute and less flexibility.

@Mamaof2: thanks, sounds easy when you say it like that!

@wonderstruck: right now he wakes up at 7, so his schedule will definitely have to change a bit. I'm hoping by then he has an earlier bedtime to help with waking earlier.

What time does the baby wake up at? If it's possible I completely agree with @Mamaof2's advice, that's the easiest way to do it - I wake LO up, feed him, change hi, then put him straight in the car seat to go to daycare.

I would keep the same routine you always had for your older DD and for the NB I would wake her 10 mins before leaving and nurse/feed, change, and head to DCP!

I'd love to hear from other parents of 2+ what your morning routine is to get your kids ready and dropped off at daycare.

I have a 2.5 year old and a 4 week old, and am heading back to work when the baby will be 10 weeks old. I seriously can't wrap my head around the logistics of getting 2 kids to daycare so would love to see what you guys do!

When we just had the toddler, DH and I would wake up around 5:45, get ourselves ready, and then wake up DD at 6:15. We'd get her dressed and out the door, dropping her off at daycare by 6:45am. She eats breakfast there.

Thanks!
