I once almost got sick practically running out of the break room...there should be no fish allowed to be reheated in a public space. It was too much for my stomach to handle. My first one there was no hiding it, I was throwing up 3-5 times a day in a 20 person office. This one was a bit easier as I wasn't as sick, but my sense of smell was out of this world, so any scent would set me taking deep breathes trying to keep it together.

@cascademom: I just bought a big 10lb bag of apples form Costco this weekend, I think I might have to make a quick batch of applesauce...

I think I need to eat more protein for breakfast. I had a couple bran muffins for breakfast, to try and combat the other side effects (constipation) hahahaha I just can't win here! LOL The joys of pregnancy are just starting right?? :-)

@MrsBrewer: Saltines and applesauce are my favorite stomach settling mix. I had two hard boiled eggs this morning. I feel so much better having those to start my day off than the past few days.

@cascademom: I'm going to have to look into ginger chews! or any other hard candy.

I'm trying to just drink plain water, and it's seriously making me gag! It never did before.....

I'm eating some whole grain crackers, but I man....Saltines sound sooo much better.

I just pound ginger chews, applesauce/saltines, and bananas at work. My nausea comes in waves. When I woke up, I ate saltines. Then after dropping off LO at daycare, I ate a granola bar. It kept my stomach okay until getting into work. Right now, I'm still dealing with diarrhea issues. I'm upping my fiber like crazy to help that too.

My boss had me figured out with my LO's pregnancy because I threw up yogurt at my desk. Much like my parents, they figure it out.

Citrus helped me keep it together so I had some lemon drops that I would suck on all the time. Jolly ranchers, lifesavers. They didn't stop the nausea but they kinda helped me function.

I did tell one coworker in the early weeks (she's someone I trust a lot and am close to anyway) so that she could help me out. But I'm a teacher and I work mostly with women, and everyone figured it out. Some people were respectful....

I suck on Jolly Ranchers all day at work and hope no one asks why. The little bit of flavor seems to help me. Though I should warn you I did that with my first pregnancy also and I ended up with two cavities

I just try to be as quiet as possible when retching and not comment on anything like my decreased appetite or food aversions.

I think my co-workers are going to kick themselves for not picking up on it. One guy has commented on how "gaggy" I am and how I'm barely eating anything. Haha

I ate a lot of carbs and almonds. My nausea wasn't horrible while I was at work, but driving was practically unbearable so I was always a little green when I came into work.

I'm worried about this when the nausea hits for me. Since I work in a lab, we can't have food and drink in there so I can't be constantly snacking or sipping on things. And our bathroom is a large bathroom with 6 or 7 stalls (no single person bathroom) so if I actually am getting sick, there is a decent chance there will be someone else in the bathroom to hear it.

@snowjewelz: Oh that's too funny!!

@BakerBee: I'm just nervous because in my group that I work with, they are all pretty much expecting me to get pregnant asap. Even though I've told them that "DH and I aren't trying yet" they just always keep hinting! So I'm thinking I won't be able to hide it much longer from them anyways!

Only a few people suspected... I could barely hide it, I looked miserable and was slumped at my desk all day long. My boss thought I was really unhappy with him and/or my job :silly:

I was really self conscious about it (I had HG, so I was vomiting 20+ times a day even with Zofran sometimes) and so I told a co-worker to help cover for me. That helped a lot because he could always give a reason why I wasn't in my office.

As an aside, he did say that he hadn't even noticed that I was in the bathroom a lot (I vomited on a good day every hour during the work day). I worked at the time in a very small office (like 10 people) and a lot of people echoed the same thing when I revealed I was pregnant. I think a lot of people don't notice, similar to what Blackbird said. Unless you've been pregnant recently (or are trying to get pregnant), I think it's easy to overlook it.

Feel better!

Sorry you haven't been feeling well - hope things get better for you soon and you're able to keep it a secret as long as you want to. :goodluck:

@blackbird: Yes! Ugh, the women use this disgusting, chemical-infested spray in the bathroom when it smells bad and I'm about to put out a sign.

@MrsBrewer: I wish I had advice. One coworker does know, so I can moan and groan to her all day. But, for the most part, I just try to keep food in my stomach. But, the bad part of this is that I'm gaining weight - fast. So now I'll have to try to hide that too.

Following this thread for good ideas!

How do you disguise morning sickness at work? I've been lucky and haven't thrown up just yet, but this nausea is kicking my butt.

I've been sipping white soda, and chomping on crackers, but the smallest things seem to even be setting me off.

I still haven't told any of my coworkers that I'm pregnant yet (I'll be 7 weeks on Wednesday).....so I'm still trying to hide the fact I'm pregnant at least for a little while longer!

Any tips?
