I'm so sorry you're sick! I had hyperemesis gravidarum and it was so awful. Try to keep down as much fluid as you can (obviously) try making your liquid icy icy cold. Try any fluid that sounds appealing, for me it was frequently lemonade. Try to only eat tiny bits and space it out to keep down as much as possibleb when you are feeling extra lousy.

The unisom and b6 was a godsend for me, definitely ask about it. There was just recently a study that was released about the safety of zofran so if that was a worry for you feel free to check that out. I know there is a link on the helpher.org site which is a site for hyperemesis. You might find some other helpful info on there too.

1/2 tab of unisom + vitamin b6 every night is the only thing that worked. it helped even the next day.

I ate a lot of carbs. I also ate constantly. I have a bad one-Coke-a-day habit right now that started during my sickness because it was the only drink that didn't make me want to vomit in the mornings.

@wheres_c: I found citrus was most helpful for me. The only scent I could tolerate was citrus, plus sipping lemonade or Sprite. Lifesavers sometimes helped get me through the day. Seabands sometimes helped cut the nausea but I couldn't wear them to work so not super helpful.

I took meds though, because I was not at all functional. Don't be afraid to request something if you're keep feeling so terrible.

I got a prescription for Diclegis this time. It's basically B6/unisom in a single pill. The midwife offered it to me, otherwise I never would have asked. But she told me she thinks women don't ask often enough. I don't feel 100% but I feel great during the day and I only feel sick from about 6pm on.

Other than that, eating protein and carbs often and allowing myself to eat whatever it was I was craving were the only things that helped before (although not great for weight gain).

You could try unisom and b-6 (after talking to your OB) and/or these: http://www.amazon.com/B-Natal-Morning-Sickness-Therapops-Everidis/dp/B000XP9DSW

I haven't tried the lollipops. I did find that gum and pepper mints helped me get through some rough work shifts.

And I basically had to force myself to eat plain chicken breast because it helped me feel better long-term if I could choke it down.

And I took Zofran for about a week because I could not stop vomiting (it didn't help with the nausea but I stopped vomiting).

And I absolutely lived on Frosted Flakes.

So sorry you're going through this. I just had a mild stomach flu and it gave me such intense flashbacks to morning sickness! I also found I could only take a specific kind of prenatal and I had to take it at night before bed.

Yikes! This happened with my second too. I found that sometimes hard candies like Lifesavers helped a bit. And carbs of course ;)

And i thought my morning sickness was bad with #1!

I feel sick all.day.long. I don't have much appetite. When I do eat, I throw up.
The only thing that seems to make me feel ok is yogurt or ginger ale.
I can barely get out of bed, I feel so awful.

Tips and tricks for making it through are needed!
