@cake2017: JetBlue is one of my home airport options, but we haven’t had an opportunity to fly with them yet with DS, so good to know.

@808love: I agree that the seat moving business is something you really have to keep your eye on. On our international trip with BA/AA last year, DH and I got split up while also traveling with DS. We had to go to each gate and beg to be put back together (what I have to do tomorrow). Really hating AA. I hope your trip goes well!

@Aria: @JennyPenny: @pachamama: @DesertDreams88: @Corduroy: I so miss having Southwest in my home airport. It was my go-to even before kids but not an option these days without major finagling!

@JennyPenny: Glad to hear again that JetBlue is decent! It’s an option at my home airport!

@erinbaderin: Good to hear about KLM since it was our go-to for int’l trips before kids and before moving.

@lamariniere: Oh that’s good to hear! I’ve heard Emirates is a great flying experience in general. I considered listing them, Qatar and Turkish but my list seemed long!

I haven’t flown in North America in awhile, but the best airline I’ve been on for kids is definitely Emirates. Kids get amazing goodie bags, kid friendly meals served early, early boarding, and their entertainment system was top notch.

We fly Southwest almost exclusively. We flew Delta once last year I did not appreciate Delta's "offer" to charge us extra to book seats together as parent and child. We ended up getting the gate agent to change our seats but we were in a long line of other families doing the same (technically against their policy).

We’ve had great experiences with KLM when my son was young - bassinets and bulkheads rows for free, a little “first flight” package, and really excellent meals.

Southwest is the only airline I will fly. Every other airline in my experience has been at best inconvenient (Delta) and at worst horrific (United). They have priority boarding if you have kids under 6 which is so clutch. Friendly staff. Relatively flexible changeability of flights. Free baggage.

The only airlines that I’ve flown recently that seem to treat families like humans are JetBlue and Southwest. I don’t think there was anything about it that felt particularly special though I do really appreciate the free checked luggage on SW. I am really irritated by the big airlines and their basic economy options. I understand charging more for checked bags, even carryons. But charging more to guarantee that I can sit next to my 4 year old... ridiculous

I have never had an issue with Alaska and always book with them if I have a choice. They are always very accommodating. Hawaiian was great too.

So I noticed each time you are notified of a flight change, of even a few mins you have to go in and manually check if they reassigned your seats. Sometimes better things open up the sooner you check.
But what a bummer to get split!! That is so nerve wracking to have to wait. We are flying British in the spring and one of the partner legs is American. So hopefully all will go well. I just double checked seats yesterday bc there were some time changes.

I like Alaska and Delta as far as comfort. Alaska doesn’t let me check seats early for some of my award flights and I don’t know why. Hawaiian is awesome too. I haven’t had a particularly bad experience with an airlines yet. After my hundreds of flights, I FINALLY got pre-check. LOL. Still too cheap for Global Entry! :)

JetBlue! We flew with them last month with lO for the first time and they were excellent! We skipped long lines of security and was done with that in less than 10 mins! Sat together as a family and ate a lot of yummy snacks provided by them!

I’m stewing over American Airline’s assinine seat assignments on rebooked flights (airline’s fault) that separate my toddler and me when we fly home tomorrow. We will ultimately sit together, I know, but they won’t deal with it over the phone. I’ll have to go to each gate and get it changed, traveling alone with a squirrely toddler and very little time on the layover before the second flight.

I’ve not been impressed with AA on international flights either and really liked British Airways. When DS was an infant, we paid extra for AA bulkhead seats to have a bassinet and got onboard only to learn that they had already given the bassinet (only had one per flight) to someone else. Totally went according to plan with BA. Among other things, BA gives lots of pre-boarding time and gives you a seatbelt to secure your lap infant to the adult. (Still not as safe as in their own car seat but it’s better than nothing.)

What’s your favorite family-friendly airline? I’m keeping this to mostly those with service in North America and some in Europe/North American flights. Multiple voted allowed.

I’ve pulled airlines from these two blog reviews: https://www.playlikemum.com/family-friendly-airlines/ and https://www.google.com/amp/s/thepointsguy.com/guide/best-domestic-airlines-for-family-travel/amp/.
