There's an over-the-counter homeopathic medicine here called "Motion Ease" (http://www.motioneazeworks.com/). It's a combination of oils that you put behind your ear. I don't know what's available in Thailand, but you also might ask about it ;I've had good results using it. Also, if you can see a doctor, you might be able to get a Dramamine patch. I've used one for extensive travel before, and the drowsiness was much less than taking the pill, maybe because it goes straight into your bloodstream?

Some other things you can try: suck on hard candy or sour candy (saliva is supposed help settle the stomach), sniff lemons or alcohol wipes (this helps especially when you're feeling like you might throw up or faint; it kind of brings you back from the edge, so to speak), or bring a hand held fan with a mister (the coolness helps reduce nausea). Good luck! I actually found that my motion sickness and morning sickness got better with extensive travel. There's some research that says changes in atmospheric conditions (like traveling by plane very big distances or driving to different elevations) can improve nausea, so maybe you'll react positively to travel!

@travelgirl1: I have ginger tablets but I don't think they are really helping. Hopefully I can get in a good night's sleep and find something tomorrow for the next leg of our trip in a few days. As for the drowsiness, I was afraid of that. We are traveling with my 2-year-old DS, so I would rather not be a zombie. But between zombie and being sick, I'll take zombie. Thanks again!

@lamariniere: yes it does, but I find most motion sickness meds do. I think in Thailand you can also buy little tablets of ginger that may help and are less likely to make you drowsy. Usually though after a little sleep I would feel okay...

@foodnerd81: that is *exactly* how I feel every time planes descend for landing. It's terrible and even worse when pregnant. I'm taking vitamin B6 but not the unisom. The B6 seems to be helping with morning sickness.

@travelgirl1: thanks for the Gravol name. I looked it up and it sounds like it is the same as Dramamine. I'm going to go to the pharmacy tomorrow and see about getting some. Does it make you drowsy? Dramamine makes me drowsy, but they do have a less drowsy formula.

My motion sickness was in overdrive while I was pregnant and it was pretty bad to start with. I was on lots of meds for morning sickness so didn't take anything specifically for motion sickness. I know Gravol was safe, but not sure they'll stock that in Thailand... most of the pharmacists there have a pretty good grasp of England, have you tried talking to them? Hope you feel better soon, Thailand can be hard with all the boat rides... but it's gorgeous out there, eh?

I don't know if it will specifically help with motion sickness but have you tried b6 and unisom? I felt really sick from one bumpy landing at 9 weeks and it took me pretty much a full day to get over it. My midwife said taking the unisom at night could help the whole next day. I didn't get it from the car though, that must be even worse, but I know I was sweating and almost threw up when the plane landed.

I am currently 8 weeks pregnant and traveling quite a bit over the next few weeks. I am prone to motion sickness and feel like I am even more sensitive now that I'm pregnant. For example just driving for a few minutes in the car can leave me nauseous. I use psibands and a few homeopathic meds, but they aren't helping much. I've read that Dramamine is safe while pregnant, but I'm not sure I can find it where I am now (Thailand). Does anyone have any recommendations? I've spent the better part of today feeling like crap because of the airplane, which is no good while on vacation.
