Yeah the port connection didn't work like OP sand Motorola replaced the parent console for us if we sent it back.

@bluestriped bee: yup! Motorola replaced it now questions asked. Another time my husband dropped it and it broke. They also replaced it then too.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet. We called customer service and they told us to take the battery out for some really long period of time (24 hours?). Then when we put the battery back in it was like new again. It's worth a shot.

We had that problem and I was able to get a replacement from Buy Buy Baby because I had received it off my registry there. With the new one, we use a generic cord to charge it (my sister got me one at Target) because I think the problem was that heavier piece on the charging cord (not a technical term but hopefully you know what I mean!)

I expect ours will do this soon. The battery life is non existent right now so we usually just wifi and use our phones or iPad.

Ours went on the fritz after 2.5 years. It will only charge if the connection is held in pace at the right angle and we just replaced it. The new one doesn't have the headphone jack type of connection.

We had that, talked with customer service which was a giant pain, eventually had them send a replacement (I don't think we ended up being charged despite being past warrantee). The replacement was a newer model and the port was redesigned. The replacement also ended up failing (I really can't remember why, I do accidentally drop them a lot :bummed: )and we knew we needed a second camera so just bought a new set and bought the 3 yr warrantee on amazon. So far it's working fine!

We had an different issue and they sent us a refurbished camera. It made a humming noise so I called to complain about it and they sent us a whole new system. I don't remember it being much of a pain but this was probably 1.5+ years ago. Worth a call

Yes, the port on ours stopped recognizing chargers. It was outside of the warrenty and they did nothing. It sucked. We bought another monitor and just limit how often we take the charger out of the port - we unplug the cord from the wall and move it around with the unit now.

@bluestriped bee: that's exactly what happened to our one in 2012... they seem to have an issue with this. But like you our baby was already 1.5+.. so for us we didn't bother.

Yep and Motorola customer service was a NIGHTMARE to deal with. Mine was still within warranty but they didn't have my model in stock so made me wait and to keep calling back on a weekly basis. They couldn't give me even an approximate date, and I finally (6 weeks later and endless emails/phone calls) demanded a new one. They sent me a "upgraded wifi model" which was terrible on so many levels - I should have known from the horrible reviews online. More emails/phone calls and they agreed to send me another one, comparable to my first model.

Long story short, I did end up with a good replacement but it was probably 4 months of straight up HASSLE before it was all sorted out. I've never seen anything like it.

@HappyBaker: I don't think it's the battery but the port where the plug in charger goes. I think it's a connection issue. I was able to get it to charge for a sec if I wiggle or push the port in. But it stops charging once I let go. I'm hoping Motorola would send us a new unit because I really don't want to buy another $100 unit.

This happened to ours and dh says it has something to do with the charger, he thinks it needs replacing. However we went on a trip and got a cheap audio only one for my parents house and basically just got lazy and switched to that.

@bluestriped bee: Yes we have been through this a couple of times! When our parent unit was about that age we replaced the batteries - we found them on Amazon but looks like they are not available anymore - depending on your model number I bet if you searched "Motorola model-x battery" you would find some, they were pretty inexpensive.

Once we had another baby we bought another cheaper version of the same monitor and then started using that parent unit for both.

Anyone have this issue? Did you try reaching out to Motorola? I see I can email support but no number to call. Anyone had any success in getting a replacement?

The monitor is less than 2 years old so I can't return it. I think it was gifted to us from Amazon.
